The Feast of the Nativity, Christmas Day
Brothers and sisters, since we belong to Christ and are heirs according to His promises, let us bring our needs and those of the whole world to our heavenly God and Father.
For God’s Holy Church throughout the world: that as She celebrates the birth of Christ, She would grow in unity and holiness.
Lord in Your mercy,
Hear our prayer.
For the leaders of the Church: that through humility and compassion they may show the love of the Christ-child to those they shepherd in both word and deed.
Lord in Your mercy,
Hear our prayer.
For those who are hostile toward God: that they may experience Him Who has come to bring peace on earth and goodwill to mankind.
Lord in Your mercy,
Hear our prayer.
For peace throughout the world: that nations will resolve their conflicts by following in the footsteps of the Prince of Peace.
Lord in Your mercy,
Hear our prayer.
For those who are alone, abandoned or oppressed: that they may be comforted by God’s grace and assisted by His people.
Lord in Your mercy,
Hear our prayer.
For those families that have lost loved ones this year and will be celebrating the holidays for the first time without them.
Lord in Your mercy,
Hear our prayer.
Faithful Father, the birth of Your Son Jesus renews our hope. As You answer our prayers, give us the grace and the opportunity to bear witness of Him to a lost and dying world, for He is Lord forever more.
