1 Preserve me, O God, for in You I put my trust.
2 O my soul, you have said to the LORD, 'You are my Lord, My goodness is nothing apart from You.'
3 As for the saints who are on the earth, 'They are the excellent ones, in whom is all my delight.'
4 Their sorrows shall be multiplied who hasten after another god; Their drink offerings of blood I will not offer, Nor take up their names on my lips.
5 O LORD,You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You maintain my lot.

7 I will bless the LORD who has given me counsel; My heart also instructs me in the night seasons.

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4 to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you,
5 who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
6 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials,
7 that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ,
8 whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory,
9 receiving the end of your faith -- the salvation of your souls.

Deacon: We are reading from John's Gospel chapter 20, beginning at verse 19.
19 Then, the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, 'Peace be with you.' 20 When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. 21 So Jesus said to them again, 'Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.' 22 And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, 'Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.' 24 Now Thomas, called the Twin, one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. 25 The other disciples therefore said to him, 'We have seen the Lord.' So he said to them, 'Unless I see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe.' 26 And after eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus came, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, 'Peace to you!' 27 Then He said to Thomas, 'Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing.' 28 And Thomas answered and said to Him, 'My Lord and my God!' 29 Jesus said to him, 'Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.' 30 And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; 31 but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.
After the Gospel reading, the deacon can elevate the book and says:

Brothers and sisters, the Lord is gracious and merciful and full of loving-kindness.
Therefore, let us bring our needs and those of the whole world before Him.
That the Church will continue to be a visible sign of Christ's presence on Earth.

That the witness of the Persecuted Church will lead to their freedom and to the conversion of their oppressors.

That nations will put aside their prejudices and differences and seek lasting peace.

That the kindness of Jesus will draw sinners to repentance, forgiveness, and amendment of life.
Lord in Your mercy, Hear our prayer.
That those who are receiving the Sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation will be filled with the fruit of the Spirit and empowered with the Gifts of the Holy Spirit for the common good.

That just as the Apostles and the early Church held all their goods in common, may we also have the heart to share our goods with those in need.

That we always bear witness of the risen Christ through word and deed.

Father of mercy. You have revealed Yourself to us through Your Son Jesus Christ.
Hear our prayer and give us the grace to be imitators of Him, Who is Lord forevermore. AMEN
