14 The LORD is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation.

27 God is the LORD, And He has given us light; Bind the sacrifice with cords to the horns of the altar.
28 You are my God, and I will praise You; You are my God, I will exalt You.
29 Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.

Deacon: We are reading from John's Gospel chapter 20, beginning at verse 1.
1 Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene went to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb. 2 Then she ran and came to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and said to them, 'They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid Him.' 3 Peter therefore went out, and the other disciple, and were going to the tomb. 4 So they both ran together, and the other disciple outran Peter and came to the tomb first. 5 And he, stooping down and looking in, saw the linen cloths lying there; yet he did not go in. 6 Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb; and he saw the linen cloths lying there, 7 and the handkerchief that had been around His head, not lying with the linen cloths, but folded together in a place by itself. 8 Then the other disciple, who came to the tomb first, went in also; and he saw and believed. 9 For as yet they did not know the Scripture, that He must rise again from the dead.
After the Gospel reading, the deacon can elevate the book and says:

Brothers and sisters, by His Resurrection, Christ has conquered all that stands between us and the Father. We, therefore, can approach God with great confidence for the needs of the whole world.
That the Church will boldly proclaim that we now have peace with God through Christ the Lord.
Lord in Your mercy, Hear our prayer.
That a deeper unity among all Christians will be fostered as they together proclaim the Resurrection of Jesus.
Lord in Your mercy, Hear our prayer.
That the Risen Christ will lead, guide, and protect all those who serve in public office.
Lord in Your mercy, Hear our prayer.
That those who have been washed by the waters of Baptism and empowered by the Holy Spirit in Confirmation will reflect the love of Christ in both word and deed.
Lord in Your mercy, Hear our prayer.
That Jesus, Who conquered the power of death, will give us the grace to cultivate a Culture of Life.

That we, who are seated with Christ, will set our minds on the things above and not on the things of this world.

That those who have lost loved ones will be comforted by the Resurrected Christ.

Father in heaven, we are ever so grateful for Your Son, Jesus Christ, Who alone conquered death, destroyed the works of the devil and paid the penalty for our sin.
Hear our prayer and give us the grace to be ever faithful to Him, Who is Lord forevermore. AMEN
