Confession of Sin
Most merciful God,
I confess that I have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what I have done, and by what I have left undone. I have not loved you with my whole heart; I have not loved my neighbors as myself. I am truly sorry and I humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on me and forgive me; that I may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us all our sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life. Amen

Psalm 21

Deuteronomy Chapter 34

⁽¹⁾ Then Moses went up from the plains of Moab to Mount Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, which is across from Jericho. And the LORD showed him all the land of Gilead as far as Dan, ⁽²⁾ all Naphtali and the land of Ephraim and Manasseh, all the land of Judah as far as the Western Sea, ⁽³⁾ the South, and the plain of the Valley of Jericho, the city of palm trees, as far as Zoar. ⁽⁴⁾ Then the LORD said to him, 'This is the land of which I swore to give Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, saying, 'I will give it to your descendants.' I have caused you to see it with your eyes, but you shall not cross over there.'

⁽⁵⁾ So Moses the servant of the LORD died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the LORD. ⁽⁶⁾ And He buried him in a valley in the land of Moab, opposite Beth Peor; but no one knows his grave to this day. ⁽⁷⁾ Moses was one hundred and twenty years old when he died. His eyes were not dim nor his natural vigor diminished. ⁽⁸⁾ And the children of Israel wept for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days. So the days of weeping and mourning for Moses ended.

⁽⁹⁾ Now Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom, for Moses had laid his hands on him; so the children of Israel heeded him, and did as the LORD had commanded Moses. ⁽¹⁰⁾ But since then there has not arisen in Israel a prophet like Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face, ⁽¹¹⁾ in all the signs and wonders which the LORD sent him to do in the land of Egypt, before Pharaoh, before all his servants, and in all his land, ⁽¹²⁾ and by all that mighty power and all the great terror which Moses performed in the sight of all Israel.

Romans Chapter 10

⁽¹⁴⁾ How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? ⁽¹⁵⁾ And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: 'How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!' ⁽¹⁶⁾ But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, 'Lord, who has believed our report?' ⁽¹⁷⁾ So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

⁽¹⁸⁾ But I say, have they not heard? Yes indeed: 'Their sound has gone out to all the earth, And their words to the ends of the world.' ⁽¹⁹⁾ But I say, did Israel not know? First Moses says: 'I will provoke you to jealousy by those who are not a nation, I will move you to anger by a foolish nation.' ⁽²⁰⁾ But Isaiah is very bold and says: 'I was found by those who did not seek Me; I was made manifest to those who did not ask for Me.' ⁽²¹⁾ But to Israel he says: 'All day long I have stretched out My hands To a disobedient and contrary people.'

Matthew Chapter 24

⁽³²⁾ Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. ⁽³³⁾ So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near -- at the doors! ⁽³⁴⁾ Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place. ⁽³⁵⁾ Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.

⁽³⁶⁾ But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. ⁽³⁷⁾ But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. ⁽³⁸⁾ For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, ⁽³⁹⁾ and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.

⁽⁴⁰⁾ Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left. ⁽⁴¹⁾ Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left. ⁽⁴²⁾ Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. ⁽⁴³⁾ But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into.

⁽⁴⁴⁾ Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. ⁽⁴⁵⁾ Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his master made ruler over his household, to give them food in due season? ⁽⁴⁶⁾ Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing. ⁽⁴⁷⁾ Assuredly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all his goods.

⁽⁴⁸⁾ But if that evil servant says in his heart, 'My master is delaying his coming,' ⁽⁴⁹⁾ and begins to beat his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunkards, ⁽⁵⁰⁾ the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him and at an hour that he is not aware of, ⁽⁵¹⁾ and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

Amen.

Collect of the Day: Almighty God, who after the creation of the world rested from all your works and sanctified a day of rest for all your creatures: Grant that we, putting away all earthly anxieties, may be duly prepared for the service of your sanctuary, and that our rest here upon earth may be a preparation for the eternal rest promised to your people in heaven; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
