Confession of Sin
Most merciful God,
I confess that I have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what I have done, and by what I have left undone. I have not loved you with my whole heart; I have not loved my neighbors as myself. I am truly sorry and I humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on me and forgive me; that I may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us all our sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life. Amen

Psalm 137

⁽¹⁾ By the rivers of Babylon, There we sat down, yea, we wept When we remembered Zion. ⁽²⁾ We hung our harps Upon the willows in the midst of it. ⁽³⁾ For there those who carried us away captive asked of us a song, And those who plundered us requested mirth, Saying, 'Sing us one of the songs of Zion!' ⁽⁴⁾ How shall we sing the LORD's song In a foreign land?

Psalm 144

Numbers Chapter 24

⁽¹²⁾ So Balaam said to Balak, 'Did I not also speak to your messengers whom you sent to me, saying, ⁽¹³⁾ If Balak were to give me his house full of silver and gold, I could not go beyond the word of the LORD, to do good or bad of my own will. What the LORD says, that I must speak'? ⁽¹⁴⁾ And now, indeed, I am going to my people. Come, I will advise you what this people will do to your people in the latter days.' ⁽¹⁵⁾ So he took up his oracle and said: 'The utterance of Balaam the son of Beor, And the utterance of the man whose eyes are opened;

Romans Chapter 8

⁽¹⁸⁾ For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. ⁽¹⁹⁾ For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God. ⁽²⁰⁾ For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; ⁽²¹⁾ because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

⁽²²⁾ For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now. ⁽²³⁾ Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body. ⁽²⁴⁾ For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees? ⁽²⁵⁾ But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance.

Matthew Chapter 22

⁽²³⁾ The same day the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to Him and asked Him, ⁽²⁴⁾ saying: 'Teacher, Moses said that if a man dies, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife and raise up offspring for his brother. ⁽²⁵⁾ Now there were with us seven brothers. The first died after he had married, and having no offspring, left his wife to his brother. ⁽²⁶⁾ Likewise the second also, and the third, even to the seventh.

⁽²⁷⁾ Last of all the woman died also. ⁽²⁸⁾ Therefore, in the resurrection, whose wife of the seven will she be? For they all had her.' ⁽²⁹⁾ Jesus answered and said to them, 'You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God. ⁽³⁰⁾ For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels of God in heaven.

⁽³¹⁾ But concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was spoken to you by God, saying, ⁽³²⁾ I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob'? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.' ⁽³³⁾ And when the multitudes heard this, they were astonished at His teaching. ⁽³⁴⁾ But when the Pharisees heard that He had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together.

⁽³⁵⁾ Then one of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him, and saying, ⁽³⁶⁾ Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?' ⁽³⁷⁾ Jesus said to him, ' 'You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' ⁽³⁸⁾ This is the first and great commandment.

⁽³⁹⁾ And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' ⁽⁴⁰⁾ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.'

The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

Almighty God, you have built your Church upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone: Grant us so to be joined together in unity of spirit by their teaching, that we may be made a holy temple acceptable to you; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

Collect of the Day: Almighty God, who after the creation of the world rested from all your works and sanctified a day of rest for all your creatures: Grant that we, putting away all earthly anxieties, may be duly prepared for the service of your sanctuary, and that our rest here upon earth may be a preparation for the eternal rest promised to your people in heaven; through Jesus Christ our Lord. A Prayer for Mission: Lord Jesus Christ, you stretched out your arms of love on the hard wood of the cross that everyone might come within the reach of your saving embrace: So clothe us in your Spirit that we, reaching forth our hands in love, may bring those who do not know you to the knowledge and love of you; for the honor of your Name.
