Confession of Sin
Most merciful God,
I confess that I have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what I have done, and by what I have left undone. I have not loved you with my whole heart; I have not loved my neighbors as myself. I am truly sorry and I humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on me and forgive me; that I may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us all our sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life. Amen

Psalm 66

Numbers Chapter 14

⁽²⁶⁾ And the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying, ⁽²⁷⁾ How long shall I bear with this evil congregation who complain against Me? I have heard the complaints which the children of Israel make against Me. ⁽²⁸⁾ Say to them, 'As I live,' says the LORD, 'just as you have spoken in My hearing, so I will do to you: ⁽²⁹⁾ The carcasses of you who have complained against Me shall fall in this wilderness, all of you who were numbered, according to your entire number, from twenty years old and above.

⁽³⁰⁾ Except for Caleb the son of Jephunneh and Joshua the son of Nun, you shall by no means enter the land which I swore I would make you dwell in. ⁽³¹⁾ But your little ones, whom you said would be victims, I will bring in, and they shall know the land which you have despised. ⁽³²⁾ But as for you, your carcasses shall fall in this wilderness. ⁽³³⁾ And your sons shall be shepherds in the wilderness forty years, and bear the brunt of your infidelity, until your carcasses are consumed in the wilderness.

⁽³⁴⁾ According to the number of the days in which you spied out the land, forty days, for each day you shall bear your guilt one year, namely forty years, and you shall know My rejection. ⁽³⁵⁾ I the LORD have spoken this; I will surely do so to all this evil congregation who are gathered together against Me. In this wilderness they shall be consumed, and there they shall die.' ' ⁽³⁶⁾ Now the men whom Moses sent to spy out the land, who returned and made all the congregation complain against him by bringing a bad report of the land, ⁽³⁷⁾ those very men who brought the evil report about the land, died by the plague before the LORD.

⁽³⁸⁾ But Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh remained alive, of the men who went to spy out the land. ⁽³⁹⁾ Then Moses told these words to all the children of Israel, and the people mourned greatly. ⁽⁴⁰⁾ And they rose early in the morning and went up to the top of the mountain, saying, 'Here we are, and we will go up to the place which the LORD has promised, for we have sinned!' ⁽⁴¹⁾ And Moses said, 'Now why do you transgress the command of the LORD? For this will not succeed.

⁽⁴²⁾ Do not go up, lest you be defeated by your enemies, for the LORD is not among you. ⁽⁴³⁾ For the Amalekites and the Canaanites are there before you, and you shall fall by the sword; because you have turned away from the LORD, the LORD will not be with you.' ⁽⁴⁴⁾ But they presumed to go up to the mountaintop; nevertheless, neither the ark of the covenant of the LORD nor Moses departed from the camp. ⁽⁴⁵⁾ Then the Amalekites and the Canaanites who dwelt in that mountain came down and attacked them, and drove them back as far as Hormah.

Acts Chapter 15

⁽¹⁾ And certain men came down from Judea and taught the brethren, 'Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved.' ⁽²⁾ Therefore, when Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and dispute with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas and certain others of them should go up to Jerusalem, to the apostles and elders, about this question. ⁽³⁾ So, being sent on their way by the church, they passed through Phoenicia and Samaria, describing the conversion of the Gentiles; and they caused great joy to all the brethren. ⁽⁴⁾ And when they had come to Jerusalem, they were received by the church and the apostles and the elders; and they reported all things that God had done with them.

⁽⁵⁾ But some of the sect of the Pharisees who believed rose up, saying, 'It is necessary to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.' ⁽⁶⁾ Now the apostles and elders came together to consider this matter. ⁽⁷⁾ And when there had been much dispute, Peter rose up and said to them: 'Men and brethren, you know that a good while ago God chose among us, that by my mouth the Gentiles should hear the word of the gospel and believe. ⁽⁸⁾ So God, who knows the heart, acknowledged them by giving them the Holy Spirit, just as He did to us,

⁽⁹⁾ and made no distinction between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith. ⁽¹⁰⁾ Now therefore, why do you test God by putting a yoke on the neck of the disciples which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear? ⁽¹¹⁾ But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved in the same manner as they.' ⁽¹²⁾ Then all the multitude kept silent and listened to Barnabas and Paul declaring how many miracles and wonders God had worked through them among the Gentiles.

Luke Chapter 12

⁽⁴⁹⁾ I came to send fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled! ⁽⁵⁰⁾ But I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how distressed I am till it is accomplished! ⁽⁵¹⁾ Do you suppose that I came to give peace on earth? I tell you, not at all, but rather division. ⁽⁵²⁾ For from now on five in one house will be divided: three against two, and two against three.

⁽⁵³⁾ Father will be divided against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.' ⁽⁵⁴⁾ Then He also said to the multitudes, 'Whenever you see a cloud rising out of the west, immediately you say, 'A shower is coming'; and so it is. ⁽⁵⁵⁾ And when you see the south wind blow, you say, 'There will be hot weather'; and there is. ⁽⁵⁶⁾ Hypocrites! You can discern the face of the sky and of the earth, but how is it you do not discern this time?

The Song of Zechariah Luke 1: 68 to 79
Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel;
he has come to his people and set them free.
He has raised up for us a mighty savior,
born of the house of his servant David.
Through his holy prophets he promised of old,
that he would save us from our enemies,
from the hands of all who hate us.
He promised to show mercy to our fathers
and to remember his holy covenant.
This was the oath he swore to our father Abraham,
to set us free from the hands of our enemies,
Free to worship him without fear,
holy and righteous in his sight
all the days of our life.
You, my child, shall be called the prophet of the Most High,
for you will go before the Lord to prepare his way,

The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only son, our Lord.
  He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.
  He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
  He descended to the dead.
  On the third day he rose again.
  He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

O Lord, make us have perpetual love and reverence for your holy Name, for you never fail to help and govern those whom you have set upon the sure foundation of your loving kindness; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
