Confession of Sin
Most merciful God,
I confess that I have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what I have done, and by what I have left undone. I have not loved you with my whole heart; I have not loved my neighbors as myself. I am truly sorry and I humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on me and forgive me; that I may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us all our sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life. Amen

Venite

Psalm 95:1 to 7
Come, let us sing to the Lord;
   let us shout for joy to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving
   and raise a loud shout to him with psalms.

For the Lord is a great God,
   and a great King above all gods.
In his hand are the caverns of the earth,
   and the heights of the hills are his also.
The sea is his, for he made it,
   and his hands have molded the dry land.

Come, let us bow down, and bend the knee,
   and kneel before the Lord our Maker.

Psalm 88

⁽¹⁾ O LORD, God of my salvation, I have cried out day and night before You.⁽²⁾ Let my prayer come before You; Incline Your ear to my cry.⁽³⁾ For my soul is full of troubles, And my life draws near to the grave.⁽⁴⁾ I am counted with those who go down to the pit; I am like a man who has no strength,

⁽⁵⁾ Adrift among the dead, Like the slain who lie in the grave, Whom You remember no more, And who are cut off from Your hand.⁽⁶⁾ You have laid me in the lowest pit, In darkness, in the depths.⁽⁷⁾ Your wrath lies heavy upon me, And You have afflicted me with all Your waves. Selah⁽⁸⁾ You have put away my acquaintances far from me; You have made me an abomination to them; I am shut up, and I cannot get out;

Numbers Chapter 13

⁽¹⁾ And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,⁽²⁾ Send men to spy out the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the children of Israel; from each tribe of their fathers you shall send a man, every one a leader among them.'⁽³⁾ So Moses sent them from the Wilderness of Paran according to the command of the LORD, all of them men who were heads of the children of Israel.⁽²¹⁾ So they went up and spied out the land from the Wilderness of Zin as far as Rehob, near the entrance of Hamath.⁽²²⁾ And they went up through the South and came to Hebron; Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the descendants of Anak, were there. (Now Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.)⁽²³⁾ Then they came to the Valley of Eshcol, and there cut down a branch with one cluster of grapes; they carried it between two of them on a pole. They also brought some of the pomegranates and figs.⁽²⁴⁾ The place was called the Valley of Eshcol, because of the cluster which the men of Israel cut down there.

⁽²⁵⁾ And they returned from spying out the land after forty days.⁽²⁶⁾ Now they departed and came back to Moses and Aaron and all the congregation of the children of Israel in the Wilderness of Paran, at Kadesh; they brought back word to them and to all the congregation, and showed them the fruit of the land.⁽²⁷⁾ Then they told him, and said: 'We went to the land where you sent us. It truly flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit.⁽²⁸⁾ Nevertheless the people who dwell in the land are strong; the cities are fortified and very large; moreover we saw the descendants of Anak there.

⁽²⁹⁾ The Amalekites dwell in the land of the South; the Hittites, the Jebusites, and the Amorites dwell in the mountains; and the Canaanites dwell by the sea and along the banks of the Jordan.'⁽³⁰⁾ Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, 'Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.'

Romans Chapter 2

⁽²⁵⁾ For circumcision is indeed profitable if you keep the law; but if you are a breaker of the law, your circumcision has become uncircumcision.⁽²⁶⁾ Therefore, if an uncircumcised man keeps the righteous requirements of the law, will not his uncircumcision be counted as circumcision?⁽²⁷⁾ And will not the physically uncircumcised, if he fulfills the law, judge you who, even with your written code and circumcision, are a transgressor of the law?⁽²⁸⁾ For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh;

⁽²⁹⁾ but he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the Spirit, not in the letter; whose praise is not from men but from God.⁽¹⁾ What advantage then has the Jew, or what is the profit of circumcision?⁽²⁾ Much in every way! Chiefly because to them were committed the oracles of God.⁽³⁾ For what if some did not believe? Will their unbelief make the faithfulness of God without effect?⁽⁴⁾ Certainly not! Indeed, let God be true but every man a liar. As it is written: 'That You may be justified in Your words, And may overcome when You are judged.'

⁽⁵⁾ But if our unrighteousness demonstrates the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is God unjust who inflicts wrath? (I speak as a man.)⁽⁶⁾ Certainly not! For then how will God judge the world?⁽⁷⁾ For if the truth of God has increased through my lie to His glory, why am I also still judged as a sinner?⁽⁸⁾ And why not say, 'Let us do evil that good may come'? -- as we are slanderously reported and as some affirm that we say. Their condemnation is just.

Matthew Chapter 18

⁽²¹⁾ Then Peter came to Him and said, 'Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?'⁽²²⁾ Jesus said to him, 'I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.⁽²³⁾ Therefore the kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants.⁽²⁴⁾ And when he had begun to settle accounts, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents.

⁽²⁵⁾ But as he was not able to pay, his master commanded that he be sold, with his wife and children and all that he had, and that payment be made.⁽²⁶⁾ The servant therefore fell down before him, saying, 'Master, have patience with me, and I will pay you all.'⁽²⁷⁾ Then the master of that servant was moved with compassion, released him, and forgave him the debt.⁽²⁸⁾ But that servant went out and found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii; and he laid hands on him and took him by the throat, saying, 'Pay me what you owe!'

⁽²⁹⁾ So his fellow servant fell down at his feet and begged him, saying, 'Have patience with me, and I will pay you all.'⁽³⁰⁾ And he would not, but went and threw him into prison till he should pay the debt.⁽³¹⁾ So when his fellow servants saw what had been done, they were very grieved, and came and told their master all that had been done.⁽³²⁾ Then his master, after he had called him, said to him, 'You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you begged me.

⁽³³⁾ Should you not also have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as I had pity on you?'⁽³⁴⁾ And his master was angry, and delivered him to the torturers until he should pay all that was due to him.⁽³⁵⁾ So My heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses.'

The Second Song of Isaiah Isaiah 55:6 to 11

Seek the Lord while he wills to be found;
call upon him when he draws near.

The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again.
He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,

The Lord's Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,

Almighty God, Father of all mercies, we your unworthy servants give you humble thanks for all your goodness and loving-kindness to us and to all whom you have made. We bless you for our creation, preservation, and all the blessings of this life; but above all for your immeasurable love in the redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ; for the means of grace, and for the hope of glory, and, we pray, give us such an awareness of your mercies, that with truly thankful hearts we may show forth your praise, not only with our lips, but in our lives, by giving up ourselves to your service, and by walking before you in holiness and righteousness all our days; through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom, with you and the Holy Spirit, be honor and glory throughout all ages.
