Send out your light and your truth, that they may lead me, and bring me to your holy hill and to your dwelling. Psalm 43:3

Confession of Sin
Most merciful God,
I confess that I have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what I have done, and by what I have left undone. I have not loved you with my whole heart; I have not loved my neighbors as myself. I am truly sorry and I humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on me and forgive me; that I may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us all our sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life. Amen

2 Kings Chapter 17

⁽¹⁾ In the twelfth year of Ahaz king of Judah, Hoshea the son of Elah became king of Israel in Samaria, and he reigned nine years. ⁽²⁾ And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, but not as the kings of Israel who were before him. ⁽³⁾ Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against him; and Hoshea became his vassal, and paid him tribute money. ⁽⁴⁾ And the king of Assyria uncovered a conspiracy by Hoshea; for he had sent messengers to So, king of Egypt, and brought no tribute to the king of Assyria, as he had done year by year. Therefore the king of Assyria shut him up, and bound him in prison.

⁽⁵⁾ Now the king of Assyria went throughout all the land, and went up to Samaria and besieged it for three years. ⁽⁶⁾ In the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of Assyria took Samaria and carried Israel away to Assyria, and placed them in Halah and by the Habor, the River of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes. ⁽⁷⁾ For so it was that the children of Israel had sinned against the LORD their God, who had brought them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and they had feared other gods, ⁽⁸⁾ and had walked in the statutes of the nations whom the LORD had cast out from before the children of Israel, and of the kings of Israel, which they had made.

⁽⁹⁾ Also the children of Israel secretly did against the LORD their God things that were not right, and they built for themselves high places in all their cities, from watchtower to fortified city. ⁽¹⁰⁾ They set up for themselves sacred pillars and wooden images on every high hill and under every green tree. ⁽¹¹⁾ There they burned incense on all the high places, like the nations whom the LORD had carried away before them; and they did wicked things to provoke the LORD to anger, ⁽¹²⁾ for they served idols, of which the LORD had said to them, 'You shall not do this thing.'

⁽¹³⁾ Yet the LORD testified against Israel and against Judah, by all of His prophets, every seer, saying, 'Turn from your evil ways, and keep My commandments and My statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by My servants the prophets.' ⁽¹⁴⁾ Nevertheless they would not hear, but stiffened their necks, like the necks of their fathers, who did not believe in the LORD their God. ⁽¹⁵⁾ And they rejected His statutes and His covenant that He had made with their fathers, and His testimonies which He had testified against them; they followed idols, became idolaters, and went after the nations who were all around them, concerning whom the LORD had charged them that they should not do like them. ⁽¹⁶⁾ So they left all the commandments of the LORD their God, made for themselves a molded image and two calves, made a wooden image and worshiped all the host of heaven, and served Baal.

⁽¹⁷⁾ And they caused their sons and daughters to pass through the fire, practiced witchcraft and soothsaying, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke Him to anger. ⁽¹⁸⁾ Therefore the LORD was very angry with Israel, and removed them from His sight; there was none left but the tribe of Judah alone.

Acts Chapter 9

⁽³⁶⁾ At Joppa there was a certain disciple named Tabitha, which is translated Dorcas. This woman was full of good works and charitable deeds which she did. ⁽³⁷⁾ But it happened in those days that she became sick and died. When they had washed her, they laid her in an upper room. ⁽³⁸⁾ And since Lydda was near Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent two men to him, imploring him not to delay in coming to them. ⁽³⁹⁾ Then Peter arose and went with them. When he had come, they brought him to the upper room. And all the widows stood by him weeping, showing the tunics and garments which Dorcas had made while she was with them.

⁽⁴⁰⁾ But Peter put them all out, and knelt down and prayed. And turning to the body he said, 'Tabitha, arise.' And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter she sat up. ⁽⁴¹⁾ Then he gave her his hand and lifted her up; and when he had called the saints and widows, he presented her alive. ⁽⁴²⁾ And it became known throughout all Joppa, and many believed on the Lord. ⁽⁴³⁾ So it was that he stayed many days in Joppa with Simon, a tanner.

Luke Chapter 5

⁽¹⁾ So it was, as the multitude pressed about Him to hear the word of God, that He stood by the Lake of Gennesaret, ⁽²⁾ and saw two boats standing by the lake; but the fishermen had gone from them and were washing their nets. ⁽³⁾ Then He got into one of the boats, which was Simon's, and asked him to put out a little from the land. And He sat down and taught the multitudes from the boat. ⁽⁴⁾ When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, 'Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.'

⁽⁵⁾ But Simon answered and said to Him, 'Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.' ⁽⁶⁾ And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking. ⁽⁷⁾ So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink. ⁽⁸⁾ When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, 'Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!'

⁽⁹⁾ For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish which they had taken; ⁽¹⁰⁾ and so also were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, 'Do not be afraid. From now on you will catch men.' ⁽¹¹⁾ So when they had brought their boats to land, they forsook all and followed Him.

The Song of Zechariah Luke 1: 68 to 79
Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel;
he has come to his people and set them free.
He has raised up for us a mighty savior,
born of the house of his servant David.
Through his holy prophets he promised of old,
that he would save us from our enemies,
from the hands of all who hate us.
He promised to show mercy to our fathers
and to remember his holy covenant.
This was the oath he swore to our father Abraham,
to set us free from the hands of our enemies,

The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only son, our Lord.

  He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
  He descended to the dead.
