Ordinary Time
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer. Psalm 19:14

Confession of Sin
Most merciful God,
I confess that I have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what I have done, and by what I have left undone. I have not loved you with my whole heart; I have not loved my neighbors as myself. I am truly sorry and I humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on me and forgive me; that I may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us all our sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life. Amen

Psalm 149

1 Kings Chapter 8

⁽²²⁾ Then Solomon stood before the altar of the LORD in the presence of all the assembly of Israel, and spread out his hands toward heaven; ⁽²³⁾ and he said: 'LORD God of Israel, there is no God in heaven above or on earth below like You, who keep Your covenant and mercy with Your servants who walk before You with all their hearts. ⁽²⁴⁾ You have kept what You promised Your servant David my father; You have both spoken with Your mouth and fulfilled it with Your hand, as it is this day. ⁽²⁵⁾ Therefore, LORD God of Israel, now keep what You promised Your servant David my father, saying, 'You shall not fail to have a man sit before Me on the throne of Israel, only if your sons take heed to their way, that they walk before Me as you have walked before Me.'

⁽²⁶⁾ And now I pray, O God of Israel, let Your word come true, which You have spoken to Your servant David my father. ⁽²⁷⁾ But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain You. Hear in heaven Your dwelling place; and when You hear, forgive. ⁽³¹⁾ When anyone sins against his neighbor, and is forced to take an oath, and comes and takes an oath before Your altar in this temple, ⁽³²⁾ then hear in heaven, and act, and judge Your servants, condemning the wicked, bringing his way on his head, and justifying the righteous by giving him according to his righteousness. ⁽³³⁾ When Your people Israel are defeated before an enemy because they have sinned against You, and when they turn back to You and confess Your name, and pray and make supplication to You in this temple,

⁽³⁴⁾ then hear in heaven, and forgive the sin of Your people Israel, and bring them back to the land which You gave to their fathers. ⁽³⁵⁾ When the heavens are shut up and there is no rain because they have sinned against You, when they pray toward this place and confess Your name, and turn from their sin because You afflict them, ⁽³⁶⁾ then hear in heaven, and forgive the sin of Your servants, Your people Israel, that You may teach them the good way in which they should walk; and send rain on Your land which You have given to Your people as an inheritance. ⁽³⁷⁾ When there is famine in the land, pestilence or blight or mildew, locusts or grasshoppers; when their enemy besieges them in the land of their cities; whatever plague or whatever sickness there is;

⁽³⁸⁾ whatever prayer, whatever supplication is made by anyone, or by all Your people Israel, when each one knows the plague of his own heart, and spreads out his hands toward this temple: ⁽³⁹⁾ then hear in heaven Your dwelling place, and forgive, and act, and give to everyone according to all his ways, whose heart You know (for You alone know the hearts of all the sons of men), ⁽⁴⁰⁾ that they may fear You all the days that they live in the land which You gave to our fathers.

1 Timothy Chapter 4

⁽⁷⁾ But reject profane and old wives' fables, and exercise yourself toward godliness. ⁽⁸⁾ For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come. ⁽⁹⁾ This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance. ⁽¹⁰⁾ For to this end we both labor and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those who believe.

⁽¹¹⁾ These things command and teach. ⁽¹²⁾ Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity. ⁽¹³⁾ Till I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. ⁽¹⁴⁾ Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the eldership.

⁽¹⁵⁾ Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all. ⁽¹⁶⁾ Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.

John Chapter 8

⁽⁴⁷⁾ He who is of God hears God's words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God.' ⁽⁴⁸⁾ Then the Jews answered and said to Him, 'Do we not say rightly that You are a Samaritan and have a demon?' ⁽⁴⁹⁾ Jesus answered, 'I do not have a demon; but I honor My Father, and you dishonor Me. ⁽⁵⁰⁾ And I do not seek My own glory; there is One who seeks and judges.

⁽⁵¹⁾ Most assuredly, I say to you, if anyone keeps My word he shall never see death.' ⁽⁵²⁾ Then the Jews said to Him, 'Now we know that You have a demon! Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and You say, 'If anyone keeps My word he shall never taste death.' ⁽⁵³⁾ Are You greater than our father Abraham, who is dead? And the prophets are dead. Whom do You make Yourself out to be?' ⁽⁵⁴⁾ Jesus answered, 'If I honor Myself, My honor is nothing. It is My Father who honors Me, of whom you say that He is your God.

⁽⁵⁵⁾ Yet you have not known Him, but I know Him. And if I say, 'I do not know Him,' I shall be a liar like you; but I do know Him and keep His word. ⁽⁵⁶⁾ Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it and was glad.' ⁽⁵⁷⁾ Then the Jews said to Him, 'You are not yet fifty years old, and have You seen Abraham?' ⁽⁵⁸⁾ Jesus said to them, 'Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.'

⁽⁵⁹⁾ Then they took up stones to throw at Him; but Jesus hid Himself and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.

The Song of Zechariah Luke 1: 68 to 79
Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel;
he has come to his people and set them free.
He has raised up for us a mighty savior,
born of the house of his servant David.
Through his holy prophets he promised of old,
that he would save us from our enemies,
from the hands of all who hate us.
He promised to show mercy to our fathers
and to remember his holy covenant.
This was the oath he swore to our father Abraham,
to set us free from the hands of our enemies,
Free to worship him without fear,
holy and righteous in his sight
all the days of our life.
You, my child, shall be called the prophet of the Most High,
for you will go before the Lord to prepare his way,

The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only son, our Lord.
  He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.
  He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
  He descended to the dead.
