Confession of Sin
Most merciful God,
I confess that I have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what I have done, and by what I have left undone. I have not loved you with my whole heart; I have not loved my neighbors as myself. I am truly sorry and I humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on me and forgive me; that I may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us all our sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life. Amen

Psalm 56

⁽¹⁾ Be merciful to me, O God, for man would swallow me up; Fighting all day he oppresses me. ⁽²⁾ My enemies would hound me all day, For there are many who fight against me, O Most High. ⁽³⁾ Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You. ⁽⁴⁾ In God (I will praise His word), In God I have put my trust; I will not fear. What can flesh do to me?

2 Samuel Chapter 2

⁽¹⁾ It happened after this that David inquired of the LORD, saying, 'Shall I go up to any of the cities of Judah?' And the LORD said to him, 'Go up.' David said, 'Where shall I go up?' And He said, 'To Hebron.' ⁽²⁾ So David went up there, and his two wives also, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the widow of Nabal the Carmelite. ⁽³⁾ And David brought up the men who were with him, every man with his household. So they dwelt in the cities of Hebron. ⁽⁴⁾ Then the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah. And they told David, saying, 'The men of Jabesh Gilead were the ones who buried Saul.'

⁽⁵⁾ So David sent messengers to the men of Jabesh Gilead, and said to them, 'You are blessed of the LORD, for you have shown this kindness to your lord, to Saul, and have buried him. ⁽⁶⁾ And now may the LORD show kindness and truth to you. I also will repay you this kindness, because you have done this thing. ⁽⁷⁾ Now therefore, let your hands be strengthened, and be valiant; for your master Saul is dead, and also the house of Judah has anointed me king over them.' ⁽⁸⁾ But Abner the son of Ner, commander of Saul's army, took Ishbosheth the son of Saul and brought him over to Mahanaim;

⁽⁹⁾ and he made him king over Gilead, over the Ashurites, over Jezreel, over Ephraim, over Benjamin, and over all Israel. ⁽¹⁰⁾ Ishbosheth, Saul's son, was forty years old when he began to reign over Israel, and he reigned two years. Only the house of Judah followed David. ⁽¹¹⁾ And the time that David was king in Hebron over the house of Judah was seven years and six months.

Acts Chapter 15

⁽³⁶⁾ Then after some days Paul said to Barnabas, 'Let us now go back and visit our brethren in every city where we have preached the word of the Lord, and see how they are doing.' ⁽³⁷⁾ Now Barnabas was determined to take with them John called Mark. ⁽³⁸⁾ But Paul insisted that they should not take with them the one who had departed from them in Pamphylia, and had not gone with them to the work. ⁽³⁹⁾ Then the contention became so sharp that they parted from one another. And so Barnabas took Mark and sailed to Cyprus;

⁽⁴⁰⁾ but Paul chose Silas and departed, being commended by the brethren to the grace of God. ⁽⁴¹⁾ And he went through Syria and Cilicia, strengthening the churches. ⁽¹⁾ Then he came to Derbe and Lystra. And behold, a certain disciple was there, named Timothy, the son of a certain Jewish woman who believed, but his father was Greek. ⁽²⁾ He was well spoken of by the brethren who were at Lystra and Iconium. ⁽³⁾ Paul wanted to have him go on with him. And he took him and circumcised him because of the Jews who were in that region, for they all knew that his father was Greek. ⁽⁴⁾ And as they went through the cities, they delivered to them the decrees to keep, which were determined by the apostles and elders at Jerusalem.

⁽⁵⁾ So the churches were strengthened in the faith, and increased in number daily.

Mark Chapter 6

⁽¹⁴⁾ Now King Herod heard of Him, for His name had become well known. And he said, 'John the Baptist is risen from the dead, and therefore these powers are at work in him.' ⁽¹⁵⁾ Others said, 'It is Elijah.' And others said, 'It is the Prophet, or like one of the prophets.' ⁽¹⁶⁾ But when Herod heard, he said, 'This is John, whom I beheaded; he has been raised from the dead!' ⁽¹⁷⁾ For Herod himself had sent and laid hold of John, and bound him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife; for he had married her.

⁽¹⁸⁾ For John had said to Herod, 'It is not lawful for you to have your brother's wife.' ⁽¹⁹⁾ Therefore Herodias held it against him and wanted to kill him, but she could not; ⁽²⁰⁾ for Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just and holy man, and he protected him. And when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly. ⁽²¹⁾ Then an opportune day came when Herod on his birthday gave a feast for his nobles, the high officers, and the chief men of Galilee.

⁽²²⁾ And when Herodias' daughter herself came in and danced, and pleased Herod and those who sat with him, the king said to the girl, 'Ask me whatever you want, and I will give it to you.' ⁽²³⁾ He also swore to her, 'Whatever you ask me, I will give you, up to half of my kingdom.' ⁽²⁴⁾ So she went out and said to her mother, 'What shall I ask?' And she said, 'The head of John the Baptist!' ⁽²⁵⁾ Immediately she came in with haste to the king and asked, saying, 'I want you to give me at once the head of John the Baptist on a platter.'

⁽²⁶⁾ And the king was exceedingly sorry; yet, because of the oaths and because of those who sat with him, he did not want to refuse her. ⁽²⁷⁾ Immediately the king sent an executioner and commanded his head to be brought. And he went and beheaded him in prison, ⁽²⁸⁾ brought his head on a platter, and gave it to the girl; and the girl gave it to her mother. ⁽²⁹⁾ When his disciples heard of it, they came and took away his corpse and laid it in a tomb.

The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only son, our Lord.
  He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.
  He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
  He descended to the dead.
  On the third day he rose again.
  He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
  He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
