Confession of Sin
Most merciful God,
I confess that I have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what I have done, and by what I have left undone. I have not loved you with my whole heart; I have not loved my neighbors as myself. I am truly sorry and I humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on me and forgive me; that I may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us all our sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life. Amen

Psalm 149

1 Samuel Chapter 17

⁽⁵⁰⁾ So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone, and struck the Philistine and killed him. But there was no sword in the hand of David. ⁽⁵¹⁾ Therefore David ran and stood over the Philistine, took his sword and drew it out of its sheath and killed him, and cut off his head with it. And when the Philistines saw that their champion was dead, they fled. ⁽⁵²⁾ Now the men of Israel and Judah arose and shouted, and pursued the Philistines as far as the entrance of the valley and to the gates of Ekron. And Abner said, 'As your soul lives, O king, I do not know.' ⁽⁵⁶⁾ So the king said, 'Inquire whose son this young man is.' ⁽⁵⁷⁾ Then, as David returned from the slaughter of the Philistine, Abner took him and brought him before Saul with the head of the Philistine in his hand.

So David answered, 'I am the son of your servant Jesse the Bethlehemite.' ⁽¹⁾ Now when he had finished speaking to Saul, the soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul. ⁽²⁾ Saul took him that day, and would not let him go home to his father's house anymore. ⁽³⁾ Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul. ⁽⁴⁾ And Jonathan took off the robe that was on him and gave it to David, with his armor, even to his sword and his bow and his belt.

Romans Chapter 10

⁽⁴⁾ For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. ⁽⁵⁾ For Moses writes about the righteousness which is of the law, 'The man who does those things shall live by them.' ⁽⁶⁾ But the righteousness of faith speaks in this way, 'Do not say in your heart, 'Who will ascend into heaven?' ' (that is, to bring Christ down from above) ⁽⁷⁾ or, ' 'Who will descend into the abyss?' ' (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).

⁽⁸⁾ But what does it say? 'The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart' (that is, the word of faith which we preach): ⁽⁹⁾ that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. ⁽¹⁰⁾ For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. ⁽¹¹⁾ For the Scripture says, 'Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.'

⁽¹²⁾ For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. ⁽¹³⁾ For 'whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.' ⁽¹⁴⁾ How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? ⁽¹⁵⁾ And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: 'How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!'

⁽¹⁶⁾ But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, 'Lord, who has believed our report?' ⁽¹⁷⁾ So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Matthew Chapter 23

⁽²⁹⁾ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because you build the tombs of the prophets and adorn the monuments of the righteous, ⁽³⁰⁾ and say, 'If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.' ⁽³¹⁾ Therefore you are witnesses against yourselves that you are sons of those who murdered the prophets. ⁽³²⁾ Fill up, then, the measure of your fathers' guilt.

⁽³³⁾ Serpents, brood of vipers! How can you escape the condemnation of hell? ⁽³⁴⁾ Therefore, indeed, I send you prophets, wise men, and scribes: some of them you will kill and crucify, and some of them you will scourge in your synagogues and persecute from city to city, ⁽³⁵⁾ that on you may come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah, son of Berechiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar. ⁽³⁶⁾ Assuredly, I say to you, all these things will come upon this generation.

Your house is left to you desolate; ⁽³⁹⁾ for I say to you, you shall see Me no more till you say, 'Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD!' '

The Song of Zechariah Luke 1: 68 to 79
Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel;
he has come to his people and set them free.
He has raised up for us a mighty savior,
born of the house of his servant David.
Through his holy prophets he promised of old,
that he would save us from our enemies,
from the hands of all who hate us.
He promised to show mercy to our fathers
and to remember his holy covenant.
This was the oath he swore to our father Abraham,
to set us free from the hands of our enemies,
Free to worship him without fear,
holy and righteous in his sight
all the days of our life.
You, my child, shall be called the prophet of the Most High,
for you will go before the Lord to prepare his way,

The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only son, our Lord.
  He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.
  He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
  He descended to the dead.
  On the third day he rose again.
