Confession of Sin
Most merciful God,
I confess that I have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what I have done, and by what I have left undone. I have not loved you with my whole heart; I have not loved my neighbors as myself. I am truly sorry and I humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on me and forgive me; that I may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us all our sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life. Amen

Psalm 101

⁽¹⁾ I will sing of mercy and justice; To You, O LORD, I will sing praises. ⁽²⁾ I will behave wisely in a perfect way. Oh, when will You come to me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart. ⁽³⁾ I will set nothing wicked before my eyes; I hate the work of those who fall away; It shall not cling to me. ⁽⁴⁾ A perverse heart shall depart from me; I will not know wickedness.

Psalm 109

⁽¹⁾ Do not keep silent, O God of my praise! ⁽²⁾ For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful Have opened against me; They have spoken against me with a lying tongue. ⁽³⁾ They have also surrounded me with words of hatred, And fought against me without a cause. ⁽⁴⁾ In return for my love they are my accusers, But I give myself to prayer.

1 Samuel Chapter 7

⁽²⁾ So it was that the ark remained in Kirjath Jearim a long time; it was there twenty years. And all the house of Israel lamented after the LORD. ⁽³⁾ Then Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, 'If you return to the LORD with all your hearts, then put away the foreign gods and the Ashtoreths from among you, and prepare your hearts for the LORD, and serve Him only; and He will deliver you from the hand of the Philistines.' ⁽⁴⁾ So the children of Israel put away the Baals and the Ashtoreths, and served the LORD only. ⁽⁵⁾ And Samuel said, 'Gather all Israel to Mizpah, and I will pray to the LORD for you.'

⁽⁶⁾ So they gathered together at Mizpah, drew water, and poured it out before the LORD. And they fasted that day, and said there, 'We have sinned against the LORD.' And Samuel judged the children of Israel at Mizpah. ⁽⁷⁾ Now when the Philistines heard that the children of Israel had gathered together at Mizpah, the lords of the Philistines went up against Israel. And when the children of Israel heard of it, they were afraid of the Philistines. ⁽⁸⁾ So the children of Israel said to Samuel, 'Do not cease to cry out to the LORD our God for us, that He may save us from the hand of the Philistines.' ⁽⁹⁾ And Samuel took a suckling lamb and offered it as a whole burnt offering to the LORD. Then Samuel cried out to the LORD for Israel, and the LORD answered him.

⁽¹⁰⁾ Now as Samuel was offering up the burnt offering, the Philistines drew near to battle against Israel. But the LORD thundered with a loud thunder upon the Philistines that day, and so confused them that they were overcome before Israel. ⁽¹¹⁾ And the men of Israel went out of Mizpah and pursued the Philistines, and drove them back as far as below Beth Car. ⁽¹²⁾ Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen, and called its name Ebenezer, saying, 'Thus far the LORD has helped us.' ⁽¹³⁾ So the Philistines were subdued, and they did not come anymore into the territory of Israel. And the hand of the LORD was against the Philistines all the days of Samuel.

⁽¹⁴⁾ Then the cities which the Philistines had taken from Israel were restored to Israel, from Ekron to Gath; and Israel recovered its territory from the hands of the Philistines. Also there was peace between Israel and the Amorites. ⁽¹⁵⁾ And Samuel judged Israel all the days of his life. ⁽¹⁶⁾ He went from year to year on a circuit to Bethel, Gilgal, and Mizpah, and judged Israel in all those places. ⁽¹⁷⁾ But he always returned to Ramah, for his home was there. There he judged Israel, and there he built an altar to the LORD.

Acts Chapter 6

⁽¹⁾ Now in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplying, there arose a complaint against the Hebrews by the Hellenists, because their widows were neglected in the daily distribution. ⁽²⁾ Then the twelve summoned the multitude of the disciples and said, 'It is not desirable that we should leave the word of God and serve tables. ⁽³⁾ Therefore, brethren, seek out from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business; ⁽⁴⁾ but we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word.'

⁽⁵⁾ And the saying pleased the whole multitude. And they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit, and Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas, a proselyte from Antioch, ⁽⁶⁾ whom they set before the apostles; and when they had prayed, they laid hands on them. ⁽⁷⁾ Then the word of God spread, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were obedient to the faith. ⁽⁸⁾ And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and signs among the people.

⁽⁹⁾ Then there arose some from what is called the Synagogue of the Freedmen (Cyrenians, Alexandrians, and those from Cilicia and Asia), disputing with Stephen. ⁽¹⁰⁾ And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spoke. ⁽¹¹⁾ Then they secretly induced men to say, 'We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses and God.' ⁽¹²⁾ And they stirred up the people, the elders, and the scribes; and they came upon him, seized him, and brought him to the council.

⁽¹³⁾ They also set up false witnesses who said, 'This man does not cease to speak blasphemous words against this holy place and the law; ⁽¹⁴⁾ for we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place and change the customs which Moses delivered to us.' ⁽¹⁵⁾ And all who sat in the council, looking steadfastly at him, saw his face as the face of an angel.

Luke Chapter 22

⁽¹⁴⁾ When the hour had come, He sat down, and the twelve apostles with Him. ⁽¹⁵⁾ Then He said to them, 'With fervent desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer; ⁽¹⁶⁾ for I say to you, I will no longer eat of it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.' ⁽¹⁷⁾ Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, 'Take this and divide it among yourselves;

⁽¹⁸⁾ for I say to you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.' ⁽¹⁹⁾ And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, 'This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.' ⁽²⁰⁾ Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, 'This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you. ⁽²¹⁾ But behold, the hand of My betrayer is with Me on the table.

⁽²²⁾ And truly the Son of Man goes as it has been determined, but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed!' ⁽²³⁾ Then they began to question among themselves, which of them it was who would do this thing.

The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

O Lord, make us have perpetual love and reverence for your holy Name, for you never fail to help and govern those whom you have set upon the sure foundation of your loving kindness; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
