Confession of Sin
Most merciful God,
I confess that I have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what I have done, and by what I have left undone. I have not loved you with my whole heart; I have not loved my neighbors as myself. I am truly sorry and I humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on me and forgive me; that I may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us all our sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life. Amen

Christ our Passover has been sacrificed for us;

The death that he died, he died to sin, once for all;
but the life he lives, he lives to God.

Venite

ⓘ 'Venite' is Latin for 'O Come,' the opening word of Psalm 95: Venite exultemus Domino ('O Come, let us sing to the LORD').

Psalm 95:1 to 7
Come, let us sing to the Lord;
   let us shout for joy to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving
   and raise a loud shout to him with psalms.

For the Lord is a great God,
   and a great King above all gods.
In his hand are the caverns of the earth,
   and the heights of the hills are his also.
The sea is his, for he made it,
   and his hands have molded the dry land.

Come, let us bow down, and bend the knee,
   and kneel before the Lord our Maker.
For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture and the sheep of his hand.
    Oh, that today you would hearken to his voice!

The Lessons

Psalm 105

⁽¹⁾ Oh, give thanks to the LORD! Call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples!⁽²⁾ Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him; Talk of all His wondrous works!⁽³⁾ Glory in His holy name; Let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the LORD!⁽⁴⁾ Seek the LORD and His strength; Seek His face evermore!

⁽⁵⁾ Remember His marvelous works which He has done, His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth,⁽⁶⁾ O seed of Abraham His servant, You children of Jacob, His chosen ones!⁽⁷⁾ He is the LORD our God; His judgments are in all the earth.⁽⁸⁾ He remembers His covenant forever, The word which He commanded, for a thousand generations,

⁽¹⁷⁾ He sent a man before them -- Joseph -- who was sold as a slave.⁽¹⁸⁾ They hurt his feet with fetters, He was laid in irons.⁽¹⁹⁾ Until the time that his word came to pass, The word of the LORD tested him.⁽²⁰⁾ The king sent and released him, The ruler of the people let him go free.

⁽²¹⁾ He made him lord of his house, And ruler of all his possessions,⁽²²⁾ To bind his princes at his pleasure, And teach his elders wisdom.

Daniel Chapter 6

⁽¹⁾ It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom one hundred and twenty satraps, to be over the whole kingdom;⁽²⁾ and over these, three governors, of whom Daniel was one, that the satraps might give account to them, so that the king would suffer no loss.⁽³⁾ Then this Daniel distinguished himself above the governors and satraps, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king gave thought to setting him over the whole realm.⁽⁴⁾ So the governors and satraps sought to find some charge against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find no charge or fault, because he was faithful; nor was there any error or fault found in him.

⁽⁵⁾ Then these men said, 'We shall not find any charge against this Daniel unless we find it against him concerning the law of his God.'⁽⁶⁾ So these governors and satraps thronged before the king, and said thus to him: 'King Darius, live forever!⁽⁷⁾ All the governors of the kingdom, the administrators and satraps, the counselors and advisors, have consulted together to establish a royal statute and to make a firm decree, that whoever petitions any god or man for thirty days, except you, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions.⁽⁸⁾ Now, O king, establish the decree and sign the writing, so that it cannot be changed, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which does not alter.'

⁽⁹⁾ Therefore King Darius signed the written decree.⁽¹⁰⁾ Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went home. And in his upper room, with his windows open toward Jerusalem, he knelt down on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as was his custom since early days.⁽¹¹⁾ Then these men assembled and found Daniel praying and making supplication before his God.⁽¹²⁾ And they went before the king, and spoke concerning the king's decree: 'Have you not signed a decree that every man who petitions any god or man within thirty days, except you, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions?' The king answered and said, 'The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which does not alter.'

⁽¹³⁾ So they answered and said before the king, 'That Daniel, who is one of the captives from Judah, does not show due regard for you, O king, or for the decree that you have signed, but makes his petition three times a day.'⁽¹⁴⁾ And the king, when he heard these words, was greatly displeased with himself, and set his heart on Daniel to deliver him; and he labored till the going down of the sun to deliver him.⁽¹⁵⁾ Then these men approached the king, and said to the king, 'Know, O king, that it is the law of the Medes and Persians that no decree or statute which the king establishes may be changed.'

2 John Chapter 1

⁽¹⁾ THE ELDER, To the elect lady and her children, whom I love in truth, and not only I, but also all those who have known the truth,⁽²⁾ because of the truth which abides in us and will be with us forever:⁽³⁾ Grace, mercy, and peace will be with you from God the Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.⁽⁴⁾ I rejoiced greatly that I have found some of your children walking in truth, as we received commandment from the Father.

⁽⁵⁾ And now I plead with you, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment to you, but that which we have had from the beginning: that we love one another.⁽⁶⁾ This is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the commandment, that as you have heard from the beginning, you should walk in it.⁽⁷⁾ For many deceivers have gone out into the world who do not confess Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.⁽⁸⁾ Look to yourselves, that we do not lose those things we worked for, but that we may receive a full reward.

⁽⁹⁾ Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son.⁽¹⁰⁾ If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor greet him;⁽¹¹⁾ for he who greets him shares in his evil deeds.⁽¹²⁾ Having many things to write to you, I did not wish to do so with paper and ink; but I hope to come to you and speak face to face, that our joy may be full.

⁽¹³⁾ The children of your elect sister greet you. Amen.

Luke Chapter 5

⁽¹²⁾ And it happened when He was in a certain city, that behold, a man who was full of leprosy saw Jesus; and he fell on his face and implored Him, saying, 'Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.'⁽¹³⁾ Then He put out His hand and touched him, saying, 'I am willing; be cleansed.' Immediately the leprosy left him.⁽¹⁴⁾ And He charged him to tell no one, 'But go and show yourself to the priest, and make an offering for your cleansing, as a testimony to them, just as Moses commanded.'⁽¹⁵⁾ However, the report went around concerning Him all the more; and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by Him of their infirmities.

⁽¹⁶⁾ So He Himself often withdrew into the wilderness and prayed.⁽¹⁷⁾ Now it happened on a certain day, as He was teaching, that there were Pharisees and teachers of the law sitting by, who had come out of every town of Galilee, Judea, and Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was present to heal them.⁽¹⁸⁾ Then behold, men brought on a bed a man who was paralyzed, whom they sought to bring in and lay before Him.⁽¹⁹⁾ And when they could not find how they might bring him in, because of the crowd, they went up on the housetop and let him down with his bed through the tiling into the midst before Jesus.

⁽²⁰⁾ When He saw their faith, He said to him, 'Man, your sins are forgiven you.'⁽²¹⁾ And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, 'Who is this who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone?'⁽²²⁾ But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, He answered and said to them, 'Why are you reasoning in your hearts?⁽²³⁾ Which is easier, to say, 'Your sins are forgiven you,' or to say, 'Rise up and walk'?

⁽²⁴⁾ But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins' -- He said to the man who was paralyzed, 'I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.'⁽²⁵⁾ Immediately he rose up before them, took up what he had been lying on, and departed to his own house, glorifying God.⁽²⁶⁾ And they were all amazed, and they glorified God and were filled with fear, saying, 'We have seen strange things today!'

The Second Song of Isaiah Isaiah 55:6 to 11

Seek the Lord while he wills to be found;
call upon him when he draws near.
Let the wicked forsake their ways

The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again.
He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,

The Lord's Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,

A Prayer for Mission: O God, you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth, and sent your blessed Son to preach peace to those who are far off and to those who are near: Grant that people everywhere may seek after you and find you; bring the nations into your fold; pour out your Spirit upon all flesh; and hasten the coming of your kingdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
