Confession of Sin
Most merciful God,
I confess that I have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what I have done, and by what I have left undone. I have not loved you with my whole heart; I have not loved my neighbors as myself. I am truly sorry and I humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on me and forgive me; that I may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us all our sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life. Amen

Psalm 20

⁽¹⁾ May the LORD answer you in the day of trouble; May the name of the God of Jacob defend you; ⁽²⁾ May He send you help from the sanctuary, And strengthen you out of Zion; ⁽³⁾ May He remember all your offerings, And accept your burnt sacrifice. Psalm 21

Deuteronomy Chapter 5

⁽²²⁾ These words the LORD spoke to all your assembly, in the mountain from the midst of the fire, the cloud, and the thick darkness, with a loud voice; and He added no more. And He wrote them on two tablets of stone and gave them to me. ⁽²³⁾ So it was, when you heard the voice from the midst of the darkness, while the mountain was burning with fire, that you came near to me, all the heads of your tribes and your elders. ⁽²⁴⁾ And you said: 'Surely the LORD our God has shown us His glory and His greatness, and we have heard His voice from the midst of the fire. We have seen this day that God speaks with man; yet he still lives. ⁽²⁵⁾ Now therefore, why should we die? For this great fire will consume us; if we hear the voice of the LORD our God anymore, then we shall die.

⁽²⁶⁾ For who is there of all flesh who has heard the voice of the living God speaking from the midst of the fire, as we have, and lived? ⁽²⁷⁾ You go near and hear all that the LORD our God may say, and tell us all that the LORD our God says to you, and we will hear and do it.' ⁽²⁸⁾ Then the LORD heard the voice of your words when you spoke to me, and the LORD said to me: 'I have heard the voice of the words of this people which they have spoken to you. 2 Corinthians Chapter 13

⁽¹⁾ This will be the third time I am coming to you. 'By the mouth of two or three witnesses every word shall be established.' ⁽²⁾ I have told you before, and foretell as if I were present the second time, and now being absent I write to those who have sinned before, and to all the rest, that if I come again I will not spare -- ⁽³⁾ since you seek a proof of Christ speaking in me, who is not weak toward you, but mighty in you. ⁽⁴⁾ For though He was crucified in weakness, yet He lives by the power of God. For we also are weak in Him, but we shall live with Him by the power of God toward you.

⁽⁵⁾ Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you? -- unless indeed you are disqualified. ⁽⁶⁾ But I trust that you will know that we are not disqualified. ⁽⁷⁾ Now I pray to God that you do no evil, not that we should appear approved, but that you should do what is honorable, though we may seem disqualified. ⁽⁸⁾ For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.

⁽⁹⁾ For we are glad when we are weak and you are strong. And this also we pray, that you may be made complete. ⁽¹⁰⁾ Therefore I write these things being absent, lest being present I should use sharpness, according to the authority which the Lord has given me for edification and not for destruction. ⁽¹¹⁾ Finally, brethren, farewell. Matthew Chapter 7

⁽²²⁾ Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' ⁽²³⁾ And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!' ⁽²⁴⁾ Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: ⁽²⁵⁾ and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.

⁽²⁶⁾ But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: ⁽²⁷⁾ and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.' ⁽²⁸⁾ And so it was, when Jesus had ended these sayings, that the people were astonished at His teaching, ⁽²⁹⁾ for He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.

⁽¹⁾ Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no reward from your Father in heaven. ⁽²⁾ Therefore, when you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. ⁽³⁾ But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, ⁽⁴⁾ that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly.

⁽⁵⁾ And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. ⁽⁶⁾ But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.

The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

Most loving Father, whose will it is for us to give thanks for all things, to fear nothing but the loss of you, and to cast all our care on you who care for us: Preserve us from faithless fears and worldly anxieties, that no clouds of this mortal life may hide from us the light of that love which is immortal, and which you have manifested to us in your Son Jesus Christ our Lord; who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Collect of the Day: Almighty God, who after the creation of the world rested from all your works and sanctified a day of rest for all your creatures: Grant that we, putting away all earthly anxieties, may be duly prepared for the service of your sanctuary, and that our rest here upon earth may be a preparation for the eternal rest promised to your people in heaven; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
