Grace to you and peace from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ. Phillipians 1:2

Confession of Sin
Most merciful God,
I confess that I have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what I have done, and by what I have left undone. I have not loved you with my whole heart; I have not loved my neighbors as myself. I am truly sorry and I humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on me and forgive me; that I may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us all our sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life. Amen

Psalm 87

⁽¹⁾ His foundation is in the holy mountains. ⁽²⁾ The LORD loves the gates of Zion More than all the dwellings of Jacob. ⁽³⁾ Glorious things are spoken of you, O city of God! Selah ⁽⁴⁾ I will make mention of Rahab and Babylon to those who know Me; Behold, O Philistia and Tyre, with Ethiopia: 'This one was born there.' '

⁽⁵⁾ And of Zion it will be said, 'This one and that one were born in her; And the Most High Himself shall establish her.' ⁽⁶⁾ The LORD will record, When He registers the peoples: 'This one was born there.' Selah ⁽⁷⁾ Both the singers and the players on instruments say, 'All my springs are in you.'

Psalm 90

⁽¹⁾ LORD, You have been our dwelling place in all generations. ⁽²⁾ Before the mountains were brought forth, Or ever You had formed the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God. ⁽³⁾ You turn man to destruction, And say, 'Return, O children of men.' ⁽⁴⁾ For a thousand years in Your sight Are like yesterday when it is past, And like a watch in the night.

Numbers Chapter 13

⁽³¹⁾ But the men who had gone up with him said, 'We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we.' ⁽³²⁾ And they gave the children of Israel a bad report of the land which they had spied out, saying, 'The land through which we have gone as spies is a land that devours its inhabitants, and all the people whom we saw in it are men of great stature. ⁽³³⁾ There we saw the giants (the descendants of Anak came from the giants); and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.' ⁽¹⁾ So all the congregation lifted up their voices and cried, and the people wept that night. ⁽²⁾ And all the children of Israel complained against Moses and Aaron, and the whole congregation said to them, 'If only we had died in the land of Egypt! Or if only we had died in this wilderness! ⁽³⁾ Why has the LORD brought us to this land to fall by the sword, that our wives and children should become victims? Would it not be better for us to return to Egypt?' ⁽⁴⁾ So they said to one another, 'Let us select a leader and return to Egypt.'

⁽⁵⁾ Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly of the congregation of the children of Israel. ⁽⁶⁾ But Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, who were among those who had spied out the land, tore their clothes; ⁽⁷⁾ and they spoke to all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying: 'The land we passed through to spy out is an exceedingly good land. ⁽⁸⁾ If the LORD delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, 'a land which flows with milk and honey.'

⁽⁹⁾ Only do not rebel against the LORD, nor fear the people of the land, for they are our bread; their protection has departed from them, and the LORD is with us. Do not fear them.' ⁽¹⁰⁾ And all the congregation said to stone them with stones. Now the glory of the LORD appeared in the tabernacle of meeting before all the children of Israel. ⁽¹¹⁾ Then the LORD said to Moses: 'How long will these people reject Me? And how long will they not believe Me, with all the signs which I have performed among them? ⁽¹²⁾ I will strike them with the pestilence and disinherit them, and I will make of you a nation greater and mightier than they.'

⁽¹³⁾ And Moses said to the LORD: 'Then the Egyptians will hear it, for by Your might You brought these people up from among them, ⁽¹⁴⁾ and they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land. They have heard that You, LORD, are among these people; that You, LORD, are seen face to face and Your cloud stands above them, and You go before them in a pillar of cloud by day and in a pillar of fire by night. ⁽¹⁵⁾ Now if You kill these people as one man, then the nations which have heard of Your fame will speak, saying, ⁽¹⁶⁾ Because the LORD was not able to bring this people to the land which He swore to give them, therefore He killed them in the wilderness.'

⁽¹⁷⁾ And now, I pray, let the power of my LORD be great, just as You have spoken, saying, ⁽¹⁸⁾ The LORD is longsuffering and abundant in mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression; but He by no means clears the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation.' ⁽¹⁹⁾ Pardon the iniquity of this people, I pray, according to the greatness of Your mercy, just as You have forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now.' ⁽²⁰⁾ Then the LORD said: 'I have pardoned, according to your word;

⁽²¹⁾ but truly, as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the LORD -- ⁽²²⁾ because all these men who have seen My glory and the signs which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have put Me to the test now these ten times, and have not heeded My voice, ⁽²³⁾ they certainly shall not see the land of which I swore to their fathers, nor shall any of those who rejected Me see it. ⁽²⁴⁾ But My servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit in him and has followed Me fully, I will bring into the land where he went, and his descendants shall inherit it.

⁽²⁵⁾ Now the Amalekites and the Canaanites dwell in the valley; tomorrow turn and move out into the wilderness by the Way of the Red Sea.'

Romans Chapter 3

⁽⁹⁾ What then? Are we better than they? Not at all. For we have previously charged both Jews and Greeks that they are all under sin. ⁽¹⁰⁾ As it is written: 'There is none righteous, no, not one; ⁽¹¹⁾ There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God. ⁽¹²⁾ They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does good, no, not one.'

⁽¹³⁾ Their throat is an open tomb; With their tongues they have practiced deceit'; 'The poison of asps is under their lips'; ⁽¹⁴⁾ Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness.' ⁽¹⁵⁾ Their feet are swift to shed blood; ⁽¹⁶⁾ Destruction and misery are in their ways;

⁽¹⁷⁾ And the way of peace they have not known.' ⁽¹⁸⁾ There is no fear of God before their eyes.' ⁽¹⁹⁾ Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. ⁽²⁰⁾ Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

Matthew Chapter 19

⁽¹⁾ Now it came to pass, when Jesus had finished these sayings, that He departed from Galilee and came to the region of Judea beyond the Jordan. ⁽²⁾ And great multitudes followed Him, and He healed them there. ⁽³⁾ The Pharisees also came to Him, testing Him, and saying to Him, 'Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for just any reason?' ⁽⁴⁾ And He answered and said to them, 'Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning 'made them male and female,'

⁽⁵⁾ and said, 'For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh'? ⁽⁶⁾ So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.' ⁽⁷⁾ They said to Him, 'Why then did Moses command to give a certificate of divorce, and to put her away?' ⁽⁸⁾ He said to them, 'Moses, because of the hardness of your hearts, permitted you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so.

⁽⁹⁾ And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery; and whoever marries her who is divorced commits adultery.' ⁽¹⁰⁾ His disciples said to Him, 'If such is the case of the man with his wife, it is better not to marry.' ⁽¹¹⁾ But He said to them, 'All cannot accept this saying, but only those to whom it has been given: ⁽¹²⁾ For there are eunuchs who were born thus from their mother's womb, and there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by men, and there are eunuchs who have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He who is able to accept it, let him accept it.'

The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only son, our Lord.
  He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.
  He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
  He descended to the dead.
  On the third day he rose again.

Keep, O Lord, your household the Church in your steadfast faith and love, that through your grace we may proclaim your truth with boldness, and minister your justice with compassion; for the sake of our Savior Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Collect of the Day: Almighty God, who after the creation of the world rested from all your works and sanctified a day of rest for all your creatures: Grant that we, putting away all earthly anxieties, may be duly prepared for the service of your sanctuary, and that our rest here upon earth may be a preparation for the eternal rest promised to your people in heaven; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
