Morning Prayer

Today is the Twelfth day of Christmas
Behold, the dwelling of God is with mankind. He will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself will be with them, and be their God. Revelation 21:3

Confession of Sin
Most merciful God,
I confess that I have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what I have done, and by what I have left undone. I have not loved you with my whole heart; I have not loved my neighbors as myself. I am truly sorry and I humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on me and forgive me; that I may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us all our sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life. Amen

Psalm 110

Jonah Chapter 2

Ephesians Chapter 6

⁽¹⁰⁾ Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. ⁽¹¹⁾ Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. ⁽¹²⁾ For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. ⁽¹³⁾ Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

John Chapter 11

⁽¹⁷⁾ So when Jesus came, He found that he had already been in the tomb four days. ⁽¹⁸⁾ Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, about two miles away. ⁽¹⁹⁾ And many of the Jews had joined the women around Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother. ⁽²⁰⁾ Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met Him, but Mary was sitting in the house.

⁽²¹⁾ Then Martha said to Jesus, 'Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died. ⁽²²⁾ But even now I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give You.' ⁽²³⁾ Jesus said to her, 'Your brother will rise again.' ⁽²⁴⁾ Martha said to Him, 'I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.'

⁽²⁵⁾ Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. ⁽²⁶⁾ And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?' ⁽²⁷⁾ She said to Him, 'Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.' ⁽³⁸⁾ Then Jesus, again groaning in Himself, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone lay against it. ⁽³⁹⁾ Jesus said, 'Take away the stone.' Martha, the sister of him who was dead, said to Him, 'Lord, by this time there is a stench, for he has been dead four days.' ⁽⁴⁰⁾ Jesus said to her, 'Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?' ⁽⁴¹⁾ Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead man was lying. And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, 'Father, I thank You that You have heard Me.

⁽⁴²⁾ And I know that You always hear Me, but because of the people who are standing by I said this, that they may believe that You sent Me.' ⁽⁴³⁾ Now when He had said these things, He cried with a loud voice, 'Lazarus, come forth!' ⁽⁴⁴⁾ And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with graveclothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, 'Loose him, and let him go.'

Surely, it is God who saves me;
  I will trust in him and not be afraid.

The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only son, our Lord.
  He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.
  He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
  He descended to the dead.
  On the third day he rose again.
  He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
  He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

Almighty God, you have poured upon us the new light of your incarnate Word: Grant that this light, enkindled in our hearts, may shine forth in our lives; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Collect of the Day: O God, the King eternal, whose light divides the day from the night and turns the shadow of death into the morning: Drive far from us all wrong desires, incline our hearts to keep your law, and guide our feet into the way of peace; that, having done your will with cheerfulness while it was day, we may, when night comes, rejoice to give you thanks; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
