Confession of Sin
Most merciful God,
I confess that I have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what I have done, and by what I have left undone. I have not loved you with my whole heart; I have not loved my neighbors as myself. I am truly sorry and I humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on me and forgive me; that I may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us all our sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life. Amen

Ezra Chapter 4

⁽⁷⁾ In the days of Artaxerxes also, Bishlam, Mithredath, Tabel, and the rest of their companions wrote to Artaxerxes king of Persia; and the letter was written in Aramaic script, and translated into the Aramaic language. ⁽¹¹⁾ (This is a copy of the letter that they sent him) To King Artaxerxes from your servants, the men of the region beyond the River, and so forth: ⁽¹²⁾ Let it be known to the king that the Jews who came up from you have come to us at Jerusalem, and are building the rebellious and evil city, and are finishing its walls and repairing the foundations. ⁽¹³⁾ Let it now be known to the king that, if this city is built and the walls completed, they will not pay tax, tribute, or custom, and the king's treasury will be diminished. ⁽¹⁴⁾ Now because we receive support from the palace, it was not proper for us to see the king's dishonor; therefore we have sent and informed the king,

⁽¹⁵⁾ that search may be made in the book of the records of your fathers. And you will find in the book of the records and know that this city is a rebellious city, harmful to kings and provinces, and that they have incited sedition within the city in former times, for which cause this city was destroyed. ⁽¹⁶⁾ We inform the king that if this city is rebuilt and its walls are completed, the result will be that you will have no dominion beyond the River. ⁽¹⁷⁾ The king sent an answer: To Rehum the commander, to Shimshai the scribe, to the rest of their companions who dwell in Samaria, and to the remainder beyond the River: Peace, and so forth. ⁽¹⁸⁾ The letter which you sent to us has been clearly read before me.

⁽¹⁹⁾ And I gave the command, and a search has been made, and it was found that this city in former times has revolted against kings, and rebellion and sedition have been fostered in it. ⁽²⁰⁾ There have also been mighty kings over Jerusalem, who have ruled over all the region beyond the River; and tax, tribute, and custom were paid to them. ⁽²¹⁾ Now give the command to make these men cease, that this city may not be built until the command is given by me. ⁽²²⁾ Take heed now that you do not fail to do this. Why should damage increase to the hurt of the kings?

⁽²³⁾ Now when the copy of King Artaxerxes' letter was read before Rehum, Shimshai the scribe, and their companions, they went up in haste to Jerusalem against the Jews, and by force of arms made them cease. ⁽²⁴⁾ Thus the work of the house of God which is at Jerusalem ceased, and it was discontinued until the second year of the reign of Darius king of Persia.

Philemon Chapter 1

⁽⁵⁾ hearing of your love and faith which you have toward the Lord Jesus and toward all the saints, ⁽⁶⁾ that the sharing of your faith may become effective by the acknowledgment of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus. ⁽⁷⁾ For we have great joy and consolation in your love, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed by you, brother. ⁽⁸⁾ Therefore, though I might be very bold in Christ to command you what is fitting,

I will repay -- not to mention to you that you owe me even your own self besides. ⁽²⁰⁾ Yes, brother, let me have joy from you in the Lord; refresh my heart in the Lord.

Matthew Chapter 12

⁽³⁷⁾ For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.' ⁽³⁸⁾ Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered, saying, 'Teacher, we want to see a sign from You.' ⁽³⁹⁾ But He answered and said to them, 'An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. ⁽⁴⁰⁾ For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

⁽⁴¹⁾ The men of Nineveh will rise up in the judgment with this generation and condemn it, because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and indeed a greater than Jonah is here. ⁽⁴²⁾ The queen of the South will rise up in the judgment with this generation and condemn it, for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and indeed a greater than Solomon is here.

The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

Almighty and everlasting God, in Christ you have revealed your glory among the nations: Preserve the works of your mercy, that your Church throughout the world may persevere with steadfast faith in the confession of your Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
