Ordinary Time
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer. Psalm 19:14

Confession of Sin
Most merciful God,
I confess that I have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what I have done, and by what I have left undone. I have not loved you with my whole heart; I have not loved my neighbors as myself. I am truly sorry and I humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on me and forgive me; that I may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us all our sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life. Amen

Psalm 106

⁽¹⁾ Praise the LORD! Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. ⁽²⁾ Who can utter the mighty acts of the LORD? 2 Samuel Chapter 17

⁽²⁴⁾ Then David went to Mahanaim. And Absalom crossed over the Jordan, he and all the men of Israel with him. ⁽²⁵⁾ And Absalom made Amasa captain of the army instead of Joab. This Amasa was the son of a man whose name was Jithra, an Israelite, who had gone in to Abigail the daughter of Nahash, sister of Zeruiah, Joab's mother. ⁽²⁶⁾ So Israel and Absalom encamped in the land of Gilead. ⁽²⁷⁾ Now it happened, when David had come to Mahanaim, that Shobi the son of Nahash from Rabbah of the people of Ammon, Machir the son of Ammiel from Lo Debar, and Barzillai the Gileadite from Rogelim,

⁽²⁸⁾ brought beds and basins, earthen vessels and wheat, barley and flour, parched grain and beans, lentils and parched seeds, ⁽²⁹⁾ honey and curds, sheep and cheese of the herd, for David and the people who were with him to eat. For they said, 'The people are hungry and weary and thirsty in the wilderness.' ⁽¹⁾ And David numbered the people who were with him, and set captains of thousands and captains of hundreds over them. ⁽²⁾ Then David sent out one third of the people under the hand of Joab, one third under the hand of Abishai the son of Zeruiah, Joab's brother, and one third under the hand of Ittai the Gittite. And the king said to the people, 'I also will surely go out with you myself.' ⁽³⁾ But the people answered, 'You shall not go out! For if we flee away, they will not care about us; nor if half of us die, will they care about us. But you are worth ten thousand of us now. For you are now more help to us in the city.' ⁽⁴⁾ Then the king said to them, 'Whatever seems best to you I will do.' So the king stood beside the gate, and all the people went out by hundreds and by thousands.

⁽⁵⁾ Now the king had commanded Joab, Abishai, and Ittai, saying, 'Deal gently for my sake with the young man Absalom.' And all the people heard when the king gave all the captains orders concerning Absalom. ⁽⁶⁾ So the people went out into the field of battle against Israel. And the battle was in the woods of Ephraim. ⁽⁷⁾ The people of Israel were overthrown there before the servants of David, and a great slaughter of twenty thousand took place there that day. ⁽⁸⁾ For the battle there was scattered over the face of the whole countryside, and the woods devoured more people that day than the sword devoured.

Acts Chapter 22

⁽³⁰⁾ The next day, because he wanted to know for certain why he was accused by the Jews, he released him from his bonds, and commanded the chief priests and all their council to appear, and brought Paul down and set him before them. ⁽¹⁾ Then Paul, looking earnestly at the council, said, 'Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day.' ⁽²⁾ And the high priest Ananias commanded those who stood by him to strike him on the mouth. ⁽³⁾ Then Paul said to him, 'God will strike you, you whitewashed wall! For you sit to judge me according to the law, and do you command me to be struck contrary to the law?' ⁽⁴⁾ And those who stood by said, 'Do you revile God's high priest?'

⁽⁵⁾ Then Paul said, 'I did not know, brethren, that he was the high priest; for it is written, 'You shall not speak evil of a ruler of your people.' ' ⁽⁶⁾ But when Paul perceived that one part were Sadducees and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, 'Men and brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee; concerning the hope and resurrection of the dead I am being judged!' ⁽⁷⁾ And when he had said this, a dissension arose between the Pharisees and the Sadducees; and the assembly was divided. ⁽⁸⁾ For Sadducees say that there is no resurrection -- and no angel or spirit; but the Pharisees confess both.

⁽⁹⁾ Then there arose a loud outcry. And the scribes of the Pharisees' party arose and protested, saying, 'We find no evil in this man; but if a spirit or an angel has spoken to him, let us not fight against God.' ⁽¹⁰⁾ Now when there arose a great dissension, the commander, fearing lest Paul might be pulled to pieces by them, commanded the soldiers to go down and take him by force from among them, and bring him into the barracks. ⁽¹¹⁾ But the following night the Lord stood by him and said, 'Be of good cheer, Paul; for as you have testified for Me in Jerusalem, so you must also bear witness at Rome.'

Mark Chapter 11

⁽¹²⁾ Now the next day, when they had come out from Bethany, He was hungry. ⁽¹³⁾ And seeing from afar a fig tree having leaves, He went to see if perhaps He would find something on it. When He came to it, He found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs. ⁽¹⁴⁾ In response Jesus said to it, 'Let no one eat fruit from you ever again.' And His disciples heard it. ⁽¹⁵⁾ So they came to Jerusalem. Then Jesus went into the temple and began to drive out those who bought and sold in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves.

⁽¹⁶⁾ And He would not allow anyone to carry wares through the temple. ⁽¹⁷⁾ Then He taught, saying to them, 'Is it not written, 'My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations'? But you have made it a 'den of thieves.' ' ⁽¹⁸⁾ And the scribes and chief priests heard it and sought how they might destroy Him; for they feared Him, because all the people were astonished at His teaching. ⁽¹⁹⁾ When evening had come, He went out of the city.

⁽²⁰⁾ Now in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots. ⁽²¹⁾ And Peter, remembering, said to Him, 'Rabbi, look! The fig tree which You cursed has withered away.' ⁽²²⁾ So Jesus answered and said to them, 'Have faith in God. ⁽²³⁾ For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.

⁽²⁴⁾ Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them. ⁽²⁵⁾ And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. ⁽²⁶⁾ But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.'

The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only son, our Lord.
  He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.
  He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
  He descended to the dead.

Almighty God, you have given your only Son to be for us a sacrifice for sin, and also an example of godly life: Give us grace to receive thankfully the fruits of his redeeming work, and to follow daily in the blessed steps of his most holy life; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
