Ordinary Time
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer. Psalm 19:14

Confession of Sin
Most merciful God,
I confess that I have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what I have done, and by what I have left undone. I have not loved you with my whole heart; I have not loved my neighbors as myself. I am truly sorry and I humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on me and forgive me; that I may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us all our sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life. Amen

Psalm 105

⁽¹⁾ Oh, give thanks to the LORD! Call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples! ⁽²⁾ Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him; Talk of all His wondrous works! ⁽³⁾ Glory in His holy name; Let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the LORD! ⁽⁴⁾ Seek the LORD and His strength; Seek His face evermore!

2 Samuel Chapter 15

⁽¹⁾ After this it happened that Absalom provided himself with chariots and horses, and fifty men to run before him. ⁽²⁾ Now Absalom would rise early and stand beside the way to the gate. So it was, whenever anyone who had a lawsuit came to the king for a decision, that Absalom would call to him and say, 'What city are you from?' And he would say, 'Your servant is from such and such a tribe of Israel.' ⁽³⁾ Then Absalom would say to him, 'Look, your case is good and right; but there is no deputy of the king to hear you.' ⁽⁴⁾ Moreover Absalom would say, 'Oh, that I were made judge in the land, and everyone who has any suit or cause would come to me; then I would give him justice.'

⁽⁵⁾ And so it was, whenever anyone came near to bow down to him, that he would put out his hand and take him and kiss him. ⁽⁶⁾ In this manner Absalom acted toward all Israel who came to the king for judgment. So Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel. ⁽⁷⁾ Now it came to pass after forty years that Absalom said to the king, 'Please, let me go to Hebron and pay the vow which I made to the LORD. ⁽⁸⁾ For your servant took a vow while I dwelt at Geshur in Syria, saying, 'If the LORD indeed brings me back to Jerusalem, then I will serve the LORD.' '

⁽⁹⁾ And the king said to him, 'Go in peace.' So he arose and went to Hebron. ⁽¹⁰⁾ Then Absalom sent spies throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, 'As soon as you hear the sound of the trumpet, then you shall say, 'Absalom reigns in Hebron!' ' ⁽¹¹⁾ And with Absalom went two hundred men invited from Jerusalem, and they went along innocently and did not know anything. ⁽¹²⁾ Then Absalom sent for Ahithophel the Gilonite, David's counselor, from his city -- from Giloh -- while he offered sacrifices. And the conspiracy grew strong, for the people with Absalom continually increased in number.

⁽¹³⁾ Now a messenger came to David, saying, 'The hearts of the men of Israel are with Absalom.' ⁽¹⁴⁾ So David said to all his servants who were with him at Jerusalem, 'Arise, and let us flee; or we shall not escape from Absalom. Make haste to depart, lest he overtake us suddenly and bring disaster upon us, and strike the city with the edge of the sword.' ⁽¹⁵⁾ And the king's servants said to the king, 'We are your servants, ready to do whatever my lord the king commands.' ⁽¹⁶⁾ Then the king went out with all his household after him. But the king left ten women, concubines, to keep the house.

⁽¹⁷⁾ And the king went out with all the people after him, and stopped at the outskirts. ⁽¹⁸⁾ Then all his servants passed before him; and all the Cherethites, all the Pelethites, and all the Gittites, six hundred men who had followed him from Gath, passed before the king.

Acts Chapter 21

⁽²⁷⁾ Now when the seven days were almost ended, the Jews from Asia, seeing him in the temple, stirred up the whole crowd and laid hands on him, ⁽²⁸⁾ crying out, 'Men of Israel, help! This is the man who teaches all men everywhere against the people, the law, and this place; and furthermore he also brought Greeks into the temple and has defiled this holy place.' ⁽²⁹⁾ (For they had previously seen Trophimus the Ephesian with him in the city, whom they supposed that Paul had brought into the temple.) ⁽³⁰⁾ And all the city was disturbed; and the people ran together, seized Paul, and dragged him out of the temple; and immediately the doors were shut.

⁽³¹⁾ Now as they were seeking to kill him, news came to the commander of the garrison that all Jerusalem was in an uproar. ⁽³²⁾ He immediately took soldiers and centurions, and ran down to them. And when they saw the commander and the soldiers, they stopped beating Paul. ⁽³³⁾ Then the commander came near and took him, and commanded him to be bound with two chains; and he asked who he was and what he had done. ⁽³⁴⁾ And some among the multitude cried one thing and some another. So when he could not ascertain the truth because of the tumult, he commanded him to be taken into the barracks.

⁽³⁵⁾ When he reached the stairs, he had to be carried by the soldiers because of the violence of the mob. ⁽³⁶⁾ For the multitude of the people followed after, crying out, 'Away with him!'

Mark Chapter 10

Then He took the twelve aside again and began to tell them the things that would happen to Him: ⁽³³⁾ Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and to the scribes; and they will condemn Him to death and deliver Him to the Gentiles; ⁽³⁴⁾ and they will mock Him, and scourge Him, and spit on Him, and kill Him. And the third day He will rise again.' ⁽³⁵⁾ Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to Him, saying, 'Teacher, we want You to do for us whatever we ask.'

⁽³⁶⁾ And He said to them, 'What do you want Me to do for you?' ⁽³⁷⁾ They said to Him, 'Grant us that we may sit, one on Your right hand and the other on Your left, in Your glory.' ⁽³⁸⁾ But Jesus said to them, 'You do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?' ⁽³⁹⁾ They said to Him, 'We are able.' So Jesus said to them, 'You will indeed drink the cup that I drink, and with the baptism I am baptized with you will be baptized;

⁽⁴⁰⁾ but to sit on My right hand and on My left is not Mine to give, but it is for those for whom it is prepared.' ⁽⁴¹⁾ And when the ten heard it, they began to be greatly displeased with James and John. ⁽⁴²⁾ But Jesus called them to Himself and said to them, 'You know that those who are considered rulers over the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. ⁽⁴³⁾ Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant.

⁽⁴⁴⁾ And whoever of you desires to be first shall be slave of all. ⁽⁴⁵⁾ For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.'

The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only son, our Lord.
  He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.
  He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
  He descended to the dead.
