Confession of Sin
Most merciful God,
I confess that I have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what I have done, and by what I have left undone. I have not loved you with my whole heart; I have not loved my neighbors as myself. I am truly sorry and I humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on me and forgive me; that I may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us all our sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life. Amen

Psalm 62

2 Samuel Chapter 3

⁽⁶⁾ Now it was so, while there was war between the house of Saul and the house of David, that Abner was strengthening his hold on the house of Saul. ⁽⁷⁾ And Saul had a concubine, whose name was Rizpah, the daughter of Aiah. So Ishbosheth said to Abner, 'Why have you gone in to my father's concubine?' ⁽⁸⁾ Then Abner became very angry at the words of Ishbosheth, and said, 'Am I a dog's head that belongs to Judah? Today I show loyalty to the house of Saul your father, to his brothers, and to his friends, and have not delivered you into the hand of David; and you charge me today with a fault concerning this woman? ⁽⁹⁾ May God do so to Abner, and more also, if I do not do for David as the LORD has sworn to him --

⁽¹⁰⁾ to transfer the kingdom from the house of Saul, and set up the throne of David over Israel and over Judah, from Dan to Beersheba.' ⁽¹¹⁾ And he could not answer Abner another word, because he feared him. ⁽¹²⁾ Then Abner sent messengers on his behalf to David, saying, 'Whose is the land?' saying also, 'Make your covenant with me, and indeed my hand shall be with you to bring all Israel to you.' ⁽¹³⁾ And David said, 'Good, I will make a covenant with you. But one thing I require of you: you shall not see my face unless you first bring Michal, Saul's daughter, when you come to see my face.'

⁽¹⁴⁾ So David sent messengers to Ishbosheth, Saul's son, saying, 'Give me my wife Michal, whom I betrothed to myself for a hundred foreskins of the Philistines.' ⁽¹⁵⁾ And Ishbosheth sent and took her from her husband, from Paltiel the son of Laish. ⁽¹⁶⁾ Then her husband went along with her to Bahurim, weeping behind her. So Abner said to him, 'Go, return!' And he returned. ⁽¹⁷⁾ Now Abner had communicated with the elders of Israel, saying, 'In time past you were seeking for David to be king over you.

⁽¹⁸⁾ Now then, do it! For the LORD has spoken of David, saying, 'By the hand of My servant David, I will save My people Israel from the hand of the Philistines and the hand of all their enemies.' ' ⁽¹⁹⁾ And Abner also spoke in the hearing of Benjamin. Then Abner also went to speak in the hearing of David in Hebron all that seemed good to Israel and the whole house of Benjamin. ⁽²⁰⁾ So Abner and twenty men with him came to David at Hebron. And David made a feast for Abner and the men who were with him. ⁽²¹⁾ Then Abner said to David, 'I will arise and go, and gather all Israel to my lord the king, that they may make a covenant with you, and that you may reign over all that your heart desires.' So David sent Abner away, and he went in peace.

Acts Chapter 16

⁽⁶⁾ Now when they had gone through Phrygia and the region of Galatia, they were forbidden by the Holy Spirit to preach the word in Asia. ⁽⁷⁾ After they had come to Mysia, they tried to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit did not permit them. ⁽⁸⁾ So passing by Mysia, they came down to Troas. ⁽⁹⁾ And a vision appeared to Paul in the night. A man of Macedonia stood and pleaded with him, saying, 'Come over to Macedonia and help us.'

⁽¹⁰⁾ Now after he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go to Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to preach the gospel to them. ⁽¹¹⁾ Therefore, sailing from Troas, we ran a straight course to Samothrace, and the next day came to Neapolis, ⁽¹²⁾ and from there to Philippi, which is the foremost city of that part of Macedonia, a colony. And we were staying in that city for some days. ⁽¹³⁾ And on the Sabbath day we went out of the city to the riverside, where prayer was customarily made; and we sat down and spoke to the women who met there.

⁽¹⁴⁾ Now a certain woman named Lydia heard us. She was a seller of purple from the city of Thyatira, who worshiped God. The Lord opened her heart to heed the things spoken by Paul. ⁽¹⁵⁾ And when she and her household were baptized, she begged us, saying, 'If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come to my house and stay.' So she persuaded us.

Mark Chapter 6

⁽³⁰⁾ Then the apostles gathered to Jesus and told Him all things, both what they had done and what they had taught. ⁽³¹⁾ And He said to them, 'Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.' For there were many coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat. ⁽³²⁾ So they departed to a deserted place in the boat by themselves. ⁽³³⁾ But the multitudes saw them departing, and many knew Him and ran there on foot from all the cities. They arrived before them and came together to Him.

⁽³⁴⁾ And Jesus, when He came out, saw a great multitude and was moved with compassion for them, because they were like sheep not having a shepherd. So He began to teach them many things. ⁽³⁵⁾ When the day was now far spent, His disciples came to Him and said, 'This is a deserted place, and already the hour is late. ⁽³⁶⁾ Send them away, that they may go into the surrounding country and villages and buy themselves bread; for they have nothing to eat.' ⁽³⁷⁾ But He answered and said to them, 'You give them something to eat.' And they said to Him, 'Shall we go and buy two hundred denarii worth of bread and give them something to eat?'

⁽³⁸⁾ But He said to them, 'How many loaves do you have? Go and see.' And when they found out they said, 'Five, and two fish.' ⁽³⁹⁾ Then He commanded them to make them all sit down in groups on the green grass. ⁽⁴⁰⁾ So they sat down in ranks, in hundreds and in fifties. ⁽⁴¹⁾ And when He had taken the five loaves and the two fish, He looked up to heaven, blessed and broke the loaves, and gave them to His disciples to set before them; and the two fish He divided among them all.

⁽⁴²⁾ So they all ate and were filled. ⁽⁴³⁾ And they took up twelve baskets full of fragments and of the fish. ⁽⁴⁴⁾ Now those who had eaten the loaves were about five thousand men. ⁽⁴⁵⁾ Immediately He made His disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side, to Bethsaida, while He sent the multitude away.

Splendor and honor and kingly power

The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only son, our Lord.
  He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.
  He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
  He descended to the dead.
  On the third day he rose again.

O God, the protector of all who trust in you, without whom nothing is strong, nothing is holy: Increase and multiply upon us your mercy; that, with you as our ruler and guide, we may so pass through things temporal, that we lose not the things eternal; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

Collect of the Day: O God, the author of peace and lover of concord, to know you is eternal life and to serve you is perfect freedom: Defend us, your humble servants, in all assaults of our enemies; that we, surely trusting in your defense, may not fear the power of any adversaries; through the might of Jesus Christ our Lord.
