Confession of Sin
Most merciful God,
I confess that I have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what I have done, and by what I have left undone. I have not loved you with my whole heart; I have not loved my neighbors as myself. I am truly sorry and I humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on me and forgive me; that I may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us all our sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life. Amen

Venite

ⓘ 'Venite' is Latin for 'O Come,' the opening word of Psalm 95: Venite exultemus Domino ('O Come, let us sing to the LORD').

Psalm 95:1 to 7
Come, let us sing to the Lord;
   let us shout for joy to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving
   and raise a loud shout to him with psalms.

For the Lord is a great God,
   and a great King above all gods.
In his hand are the caverns of the earth,
   and the heights of the hills are his also.
The sea is his, for he made it,
   and his hands have molded the dry land.

Come, let us bow down, and bend the knee,
   and kneel before the Lord our Maker.
For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture and the sheep of his hand.
    Oh, that today you would hearken to his voice!

The Lessons

Psalm 103

⁽¹⁾ Bless the LORD, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name!⁽²⁾ Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits:⁽³⁾ Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases,⁽⁴⁾ Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,

⁽⁵⁾ Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.⁽⁶⁾ The LORD executes righteousness And justice for all who are oppressed.⁽⁷⁾ He made known His ways to Moses, His acts to the children of Israel.⁽⁸⁾ The LORD is merciful and gracious, Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy.

⁽⁹⁾ He will not always strive with us, Nor will He keep His anger forever.⁽¹⁰⁾ He has not dealt with us according to our sins, Nor punished us according to our iniquities.⁽¹¹⁾ For as the heavens are high above the earth, So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him;⁽¹²⁾ As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us.

⁽¹⁷⁾ But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting On those who fear Him, And His righteousness to children's children,⁽¹⁸⁾ To such as keep His covenant, And to those who remember His commandments to do them.⁽¹⁹⁾ The LORD has established His throne in heaven, And His kingdom rules over all.⁽²⁰⁾ Bless the LORD, you His angels, Who excel in strength, who do His word, Heeding the voice of His word.

Ezekiel Chapter 47

⁽¹⁾ Then he brought me back to the door of the temple; and there was water, flowing from under the threshold of the temple toward the east, for the front of the temple faced east; the water was flowing from under the right side of the temple, south of the altar.⁽²⁾ He brought me out by way of the north gate, and led me around on the outside to the outer gateway that faces east; and there was water, running out on the right side.⁽³⁾ And when the man went out to the east with the line in his hand, he measured one thousand cubits, and he brought me through the waters; the water came up to my ankles.⁽⁴⁾ Again he measured one thousand and brought me through the waters; the water came up to my knees. Again he measured one thousand and brought me through; the water came up to my waist.

⁽⁵⁾ Again he measured one thousand, and it was a river that I could not cross; for the water was too deep, water in which one must swim, a river that could not be crossed.⁽⁶⁾ He said to me, 'Son of man, have you seen this?' Then he brought me and returned me to the bank of the river.⁽⁷⁾ When I returned, there, along the bank of the river, were very many trees on one side and the other.⁽⁸⁾ Then he said to me: 'This water flows toward the eastern region, goes down into the valley, and enters the sea. When it reaches the sea, its waters are healed.

⁽⁹⁾ And it shall be that every living thing that moves, wherever the rivers go, will live. There will be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters go there; for they will be healed, and everything will live wherever the river goes.⁽¹⁰⁾ It shall be that fishermen will stand by it from En Gedi to En Eglaim; they will be places for spreading their nets. Their fish will be of the same kinds as the fish of the Great Sea, exceedingly many.⁽¹¹⁾ But its swamps and marshes will not be healed; they will be given over to salt.⁽¹²⁾ Along the bank of the river, on this side and that, will grow all kinds of trees used for food; their leaves will not wither, and their fruit will not fail. They will bear fruit every month, because their water flows from the sanctuary. Their fruit will be for food, and their leaves for medicine.'

Luke Chapter 1

The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again.
He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,

The Lord's Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy Name,
thy kingdom come, thy will be done,

Holy Day Collect: Saint Luke October 18
Almighty God, who inspired your servant Luke the physician to set forth in the Gospel the love and healing power of your Son: Graciously continue in your Church this love and power to heal, to the praise and glory of your Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Collect of the Day: Almighty God, who after the creation of the world rested from all your works and sanctified a day of rest for all your creatures: Grant that we, putting away all earthly anxieties, may be duly prepared for the service of your sanctuary, and that our rest here upon earth may be a preparation for the eternal rest promised to your people in heaven; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

A Prayer for Mission: Lord Jesus Christ, you stretched out your arms of love on the hard wood of the cross that everyone might come within the reach of your saving embrace: So clothe us in your Spirit that we, reaching forth our hands in love, may bring those who do not know you to the knowledge and love of you; for the honor of your Name. Amen.

Thanksgiving
Almighty God, Father of all mercies, we your unworthy servants give you humble thanks for all your goodness and loving-kindness to us and to all whom you have made. We bless you for our creation, preservation, and all the blessings of this life; but above all for your immeasurable love in the redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ; for the means of grace, and for the hope of glory, and, we pray, give us such an awareness of your mercies, that with truly thankful hearts we may show forth your praise, not only with our lips, but in our lives, by giving up ourselves to your service, and by walking before you in holiness and righteousness all our days; through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom, with you and the Holy Spirit, be honor and glory throughout all ages.
