The hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth, for such the Father seeks to worship him. John 4:23

Confession of Sin
Most merciful God,
I confess that I have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what I have done, and by what I have left undone. I have not loved you with my whole heart; I have not loved my neighbors as myself. I am truly sorry and I humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on me and forgive me; that I may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us all our sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life. Amen

Venite

Psalm 95:1 to 7
Come, let us sing to the Lord;
   let us shout for joy to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving
   and raise a loud shout to him with psalms.

For the Lord is a great God,
   and a great King above all gods.
In his hand are the caverns of the earth,
   and the heights of the hills are his also.
The sea is his, for he made it,
   and his hands have molded the dry land.

Come, let us bow down, and bend the knee,
   and kneel before the Lord our Maker.
For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture and the sheep of his hand.
    Oh, that today you would hearken to his voice!

The Lessons

Psalm 101

⁽¹⁾ I will sing of mercy and justice; To You, O LORD, I will sing praises.⁽²⁾ I will behave wisely in a perfect way. Oh, when will You come to me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.⁽³⁾ I will set nothing wicked before my eyes; I hate the work of those who fall away; It shall not cling to me.⁽⁴⁾ A perverse heart shall depart from me; I will not know wickedness.

⁽⁵⁾ Whoever secretly slanders his neighbor, Him I will destroy; The one who has a haughty look and a proud heart, Him I will not endure.⁽⁶⁾ My eyes shall be on the faithful of the land, That they may dwell with me; He who walks in a perfect way, He shall serve me.⁽⁷⁾ He who works deceit shall not dwell within my house; He who tells lies shall not continue in my presence.⁽⁸⁾ Early I will destroy all the wicked of the land, That I may cut off all the evildoers from the city of the LORD.

Psalm 109

⁽¹⁾ Do not keep silent, O God of my praise!⁽²⁾ For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful Have opened against me; They have spoken against me with a lying tongue.⁽³⁾ They have also surrounded me with words of hatred, And fought against me without a cause.⁽⁴⁾ In return for my love they are my accusers, But I give myself to prayer.

⁽²⁰⁾ Let this be the LORD's reward to my accusers, And to those who speak evil against my person.⁽²¹⁾ But You, O GOD the Lord, Deal with me for Your name's sake; Because Your mercy is good, deliver me.⁽²²⁾ For I am poor and needy, And my heart is wounded within me.⁽²³⁾ I am gone like a shadow when it lengthens; I am shaken off like a locust.

Malachi Chapter 1

⁽¹⁾ The burden of the word of the LORD to Israel by Malachi.⁽⁶⁾ A son honors his father, And a servant his master. If then I am the Father, Where is My honor? And if I am a Master, Where is My reverence? Says the LORD of hosts To you priests who despise My name. Yet you say, 'In what way have we despised Your name?'⁽⁷⁾ You offer defiled food on My altar. But say, 'In what way have we defiled You?' By saying, 'The table of the LORD is contemptible.'⁽⁸⁾ And when you offer the blind as a sacrifice, Is it not evil? And when you offer the lame and sick, Is it not evil? Offer it then to your governor! Would he be pleased with you? Would he accept you favorably?' Says the LORD of hosts.⁽⁹⁾ But now entreat God's favor, That He may be gracious to us. While this is being done by your hands, Will He accept you favorably?' Says the LORD of hosts.

⁽¹⁰⁾ Who is there even among you who would shut the doors, So that you would not kindle fire on My altar in vain? I have no pleasure in you,' Says the LORD of hosts, 'Nor will I accept an offering from your hands.⁽¹¹⁾ For from the rising of the sun, even to its going down, My name shall be great among the Gentiles; In every place incense shall be offered to My name, And a pure offering; For My name shall be great among the nations,' Says the LORD of hosts.⁽¹²⁾ But you profane it, In that you say, 'The table of the LORD is defiled; And its fruit, its food, is contemptible.'⁽¹³⁾ You also say, 'Oh, what a weariness!' And you sneer at it,' Says the LORD of hosts. 'And you bring the stolen, the lame, and the sick; Thus you bring an offering! Should I accept this from your hand?' Says the LORD.

⁽¹⁴⁾ But cursed be the deceiver Who has in his flock a male, And takes a vow, But sacrifices to the Lord what is blemished -- For I am a great King,' Says the LORD of hosts, 'And My name is to be feared among the nations.

James Chapter 3

⁽¹³⁾ Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom.⁽¹⁴⁾ But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth.⁽¹⁵⁾ This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic.⁽¹⁶⁾ For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there.

⁽¹⁷⁾ But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.⁽¹⁸⁾ Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.⁽¹⁾ Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members?⁽²⁾ You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask.⁽³⁾ You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.⁽⁴⁾ Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

⁽⁵⁾ Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, 'The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously'?⁽⁶⁾ But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: 'God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.'⁽⁷⁾ Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.⁽⁸⁾ Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

⁽⁹⁾ Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom.⁽¹⁰⁾ Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.⁽¹¹⁾ Do not speak evil of one another, brethren. He who speaks evil of a brother and judges his brother, speaks evil of the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge.⁽¹²⁾ There is one Lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy. Who are you to judge another?

Luke Chapter 17

⁽¹¹⁾ Now it happened as He went to Jerusalem that He passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.⁽¹²⁾ Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood afar off.⁽¹³⁾ And they lifted up their voices and said, 'Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!'⁽¹⁴⁾ So when He saw them, He said to them, 'Go, show yourselves to the priests.' And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed.

⁽¹⁵⁾ And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God,⁽¹⁶⁾ and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan.⁽¹⁷⁾ So Jesus answered and said, 'Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine?⁽¹⁸⁾ Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?'

The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again.
He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

The Lord's Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,

Almighty God, Father of all mercies, we your unworthy servants give you humble thanks for all your goodness and loving-kindness to us and to all whom you have made. We bless you for our creation, preservation, and all the blessings of this life; but above all for your immeasurable love in the redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ; for the means of grace, and for the hope of glory, and, we pray, give us such an awareness of your mercies, that with truly thankful hearts we may show forth your praise, not only with our lips, but in our lives, by giving up ourselves to your service, and by walking before you in holiness and righteousness all our days; through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom, with you and the Holy Spirit, be honor and glory throughout all ages.
