Ordinary Time
The hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth, for such the Father seeks to worship him. John 4:23

Confession of Sin
Most merciful God,
I confess that I have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what I have done, and by what I have left undone. I have not loved you with my whole heart; I have not loved my neighbors as myself. I am truly sorry and I humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on me and forgive me; that I may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us all our sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life. Amen

Psalm 87

Psalm 90

Joel Chapter 3

James Chapter 2

⁽¹⁾ My brethren, do not hold the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with partiality. ⁽²⁾ For if there should come into your assembly a man with gold rings, in fine apparel, and there should also come in a poor man in filthy clothes, ⁽³⁾ and you pay attention to the one wearing the fine clothes and say to him, 'You sit here in a good place,' and say to the poor man, 'You stand there,' or, 'Sit here at my footstool,' ⁽⁴⁾ have you not shown partiality among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts?

⁽⁵⁾ Listen, my beloved brethren: Has God not chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him? ⁽⁶⁾ But you have dishonored the poor man. Do not the rich oppress you and drag you into the courts? ⁽⁷⁾ Do they not blaspheme that noble name by which you are called? ⁽⁸⁾ If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself,' you do well;

⁽⁹⁾ but if you show partiality, you commit sin, and are convicted by the law as transgressors. ⁽¹⁰⁾ For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all. ⁽¹¹⁾ For He who said, 'Do not commit adultery,' also said, 'Do not murder.' Now if you do not commit adultery, but you do murder, you have become a transgressor of the law. ⁽¹²⁾ So speak and so do as those who will be judged by the law of liberty.

⁽¹³⁾ For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.

Luke Chapter 16

⁽¹⁰⁾ He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much. ⁽¹¹⁾ Therefore if you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? ⁽¹²⁾ And if you have not been faithful in what is another man's, who will give you what is your own? ⁽¹³⁾ No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.'

⁽¹⁴⁾ Now the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, also heard all these things, and they derided Him. ⁽¹⁵⁾ And He said to them, 'You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is highly esteemed among men is an abomination in the sight of God. ⁽¹⁶⁾ The law and the prophets were until John. Since that time the kingdom of God has been preached, and everyone is pressing into it. ⁽¹⁷⁾ And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one tittle of the law to fail.

The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

O God, whose blessed Son came into the world that he might destroy the works of the devil and make us children of God and heirs of eternal life: Grant that, having this hope, we may purify ourselves as he is pure; that, when he comes again with power and great glory, we may be made like him in his eternal and glorious kingdom; where he lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

Collect of the Day: Almighty God, who after the creation of the world rested from all your works and sanctified a day of rest for all your creatures: Grant that we, putting away all earthly anxieties, may be duly prepared for the service of your sanctuary, and that our rest here upon earth may be a preparation for the eternal rest promised to your people in heaven; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
