Confession of Sin
Most merciful God,
I confess that I have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what I have done, and by what I have left undone. I have not loved you with my whole heart; I have not loved my neighbors as myself. I am truly sorry and I humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on me and forgive me; that I may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us all our sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life. Amen

Venite

ⓘ 'Venite' is Latin for 'O Come,' the opening word of Psalm 95: Venite exultemus Domino ('O Come, let us sing to the LORD').

Psalm 95:1 to 7
Come, let us sing to the Lord;
   let us shout for joy to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving
   and raise a loud shout to him with psalms.

For the Lord is a great God,
   and a great King above all gods.
In his hand are the caverns of the earth,
   and the heights of the hills are his also.
The sea is his, for he made it,
   and his hands have molded the dry land.

Come, let us bow down, and bend the knee,
   and kneel before the Lord our Maker.
For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture and the sheep of his hand.
    Oh, that today you would hearken to his voice!

The Lessons

Psalm 45

⁽¹⁾ My heart is overflowing with a good theme; I recite my composition concerning the King; My tongue is the pen of a ready writer.⁽²⁾ You are fairer than the sons of men; Grace is poured upon Your lips; Therefore God has blessed You forever.⁽³⁾ Gird Your sword upon Your thigh, O Mighty One, With Your glory and Your majesty.⁽⁴⁾ And in Your majesty ride prosperously because of truth, humility, and righteousness; And Your right hand shall teach You awesome things.

⁽⁵⁾ Your arrows are sharp in the heart of the King's enemies; The peoples fall under You.⁽⁶⁾ Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom.⁽⁷⁾ You love righteousness and hate wickedness; Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You With the oil of gladness more than Your companions.⁽⁸⁾ All Your garments are scented with myrrh and aloes and cassia, Out of the ivory palaces, by which they have made You glad.

Ecclesiasticus Chapter 24

⁽¹⁾ Listen to Wisdom! She proudly sings her own praises among the Israelites, her own people,⁽²⁾ in the assembly of the Most High, in the presence of his power.⁽³⁾ I am the word spoken by the Most High. I covered the earth like a mist.⁽⁴⁾ I made my home in highest heaven, my throne on a pillar of cloud.

⁽⁵⁾ Alone I walked around the circle of the sky and walked through the ocean beneath the earth.⁽⁶⁾ I ruled over all the earth and the ocean waves, over every nation, over every people.⁽⁷⁾ I looked everywhere for a place to settle, some part of the world to make my home.⁽⁸⁾ Then my Creator, who created the universe, told me where I was to live. 'Make your home in Israel,' he said. 'The descendants of Jacob will be your people.'

⁽⁹⁾ He created me in eternity, before time began, and I will exist for all eternity to come.⁽¹⁰⁾ I served him in the Sacred Tent and then made my home on Mount Zion.⁽¹¹⁾ He settled me in the Beloved City and gave me authority over Jerusalem.⁽¹²⁾ I put down roots among an honored people whom the Lord had chosen as his own.

Revelation Chapter 11

⁽¹⁴⁾ The second woe is past. Behold, the third woe is coming quickly.⁽¹⁵⁾ Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, 'The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!'⁽¹⁶⁾ And the twenty-four elders who sat before God on their thrones fell on their faces and worshiped God,⁽¹⁷⁾ saying: 'We give You thanks, O Lord God Almighty, The One who is and who was and who is to come, Because You have taken Your great power and reigned.

⁽¹⁸⁾ The nations were angry, and Your wrath has come, And the time of the dead, that they should be judged, And that You should reward Your servants the prophets and the saints, And those who fear Your name, small and great, And should destroy those who destroy the earth.'⁽¹⁹⁾ Then the temple of God was opened in heaven, and the ark of His covenant was seen in His temple. And there were lightnings, noises, thunderings, an earthquake, and great hail.

Luke Chapter 11

⁽²⁷⁾ And it happened, as He spoke these things, that a certain woman from the crowd raised her voice and said to Him, 'Blessed is the womb that bore You, and the breasts which nursed You!'⁽²⁸⁾ But He said, 'More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!'⁽²⁹⁾ And while the crowds were thickly gathered together, He began to say, 'This is an evil generation. It seeks a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah the prophet.⁽³⁰⁾ For as Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites, so also the Son of Man will be to this generation.

⁽³¹⁾ The queen of the South will rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation and condemn them, for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and indeed a greater than Solomon is here.⁽³²⁾ The men of Nineveh will rise up in the judgment with this generation and condemn it, for they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and indeed a greater than Jonah is here.⁽³³⁾ No one, when he has lit a lamp, puts it in a secret place or under a basket, but on a lampstand, that those who come in may see the light.⁽³⁴⁾ The lamp of the body is the eye. Therefore, when your eye is good, your whole body also is full of light. But when your eye is bad, your body also is full of darkness.

⁽³⁵⁾ Therefore take heed that the light which is in you is not darkness.⁽³⁶⁾ If then your whole body is full of light, having no part dark, the whole body will be full of light, as when the bright shining of a lamp gives you light.'

Splendor and honor and kingly power
are yours by right, O Lord our God,
For you created everything that is,
and by your will they were created

From every family, language, people, and nation,
a kingdom of priests to serve our God.

The Song of Zechariah Luke 1: 68 to 79

Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel;
he has come to his people and set them free.
He has raised up for us a mighty savior,
born of the house of his servant David.

Through his holy prophets he promised of old,
that he would save us from our enemies,
from the hands of all who hate us.
He promised to show mercy to our fathers
and to remember his holy covenant.

This was the oath he swore to our father Abraham,

The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again.
He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,

The Lord's Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,
