Confession of Sin
Most merciful God,
I confess that I have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what I have done, and by what I have left undone. I have not loved you with my whole heart; I have not loved my neighbors as myself. I am truly sorry and I humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on me and forgive me; that I may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us all our sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life. Amen

Venite

Psalm 95:1 to 7
Come, let us sing to the Lord;
   let us shout for joy to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving
   and raise a loud shout to him with psalms.

For the Lord is a great God,
   and a great King above all gods.
In his hand are the caverns of the earth,
   and the heights of the hills are his also.
The sea is his, for he made it,
   and his hands have molded the dry land.

Come, let us bow down, and bend the knee,
   and kneel before the Lord our Maker.
For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture and the sheep of his hand.

The Lessons

Psalm 119

⁽⁹⁷⁾ Oh, how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day.⁽⁹⁸⁾ You, through Your commandments, make me wiser than my enemies; For they are ever with me.⁽⁹⁹⁾ I have more understanding than all my teachers, For Your testimonies are my meditation.⁽¹⁰⁰⁾ I understand more than the ancients, Because I keep Your precepts.

⁽¹⁰¹⁾ I have restrained my feet from every evil way, That I may keep Your word.⁽¹⁰²⁾ I have not departed from Your judgments, For You Yourself have taught me.⁽¹⁰³⁾ How sweet are Your words to my taste, Sweeter than honey to my mouth!⁽¹⁰⁴⁾ Through Your precepts I get understanding; Therefore I hate every false way.

Genesis Chapter 27

⁽¹⁾ Now it came to pass, when Isaac was old and his eyes were so dim that he could not see, that he called Esau his older son and said to him, 'My son.' And he answered him, 'Here I am.'⁽²⁾ Then he said, 'Behold now, I am old. I do not know the day of my death.⁽³⁾ Now therefore, please take your weapons, your quiver and your bow, and go out to the field and hunt game for me.⁽⁴⁾ And make me savory food, such as I love, and bring it to me that I may eat, that my soul may bless you before I die.'

⁽⁵⁾ Now Rebekah was listening when Isaac spoke to Esau his son. And Esau went to the field to hunt game and to bring it.⁽⁶⁾ So Rebekah spoke to Jacob her son, saying, 'Indeed I heard your father speak to Esau your brother, saying,⁽⁷⁾ Bring me game and make savory food for me, that I may eat it and bless you in the presence of the LORD before my death.'⁽⁸⁾ Now therefore, my son, obey my voice according to what I command you.

⁽⁹⁾ Go now to the flock and bring me from there two choice kids of the goats, and I will make savory food from them for your father, such as he loves.⁽¹⁰⁾ Then you shall take it to your father, that he may eat it, and that he may bless you before his death.'⁽¹¹⁾ And Jacob said to Rebekah his mother, 'Look, Esau my brother is a hairy man, and I am a smooth-skinned man.⁽¹²⁾ Perhaps my father will feel me, and I shall seem to be a deceiver to him; and I shall bring a curse on myself and not a blessing.'

⁽¹³⁾ But his mother said to him, 'Let your curse be on me, my son; only obey my voice, and go, get them for me.'⁽¹⁴⁾ And he went and got them and brought them to his mother, and his mother made savory food, such as his father loved.⁽¹⁵⁾ Then Rebekah took the choice clothes of her elder son Esau, which were with her in the house, and put them on Jacob her younger son.⁽¹⁶⁾ And she put the skins of the kids of the goats on his hands and on the smooth part of his neck.

⁽¹⁷⁾ Then she gave the savory food and the bread, which she had prepared, into the hand of her son Jacob.⁽¹⁸⁾ So he went to his father and said, 'My father.' And he said, 'Here I am. Who are you, my son?'⁽¹⁹⁾ Jacob said to his father, 'I am Esau your firstborn; I have done just as you told me; please arise, sit and eat of my game, that your soul may bless me.'⁽²⁰⁾ But Isaac said to his son, 'How is it that you have found it so quickly, my son?' And he said, 'Because the LORD your God brought it to me.'

⁽²¹⁾ Then Isaac said to Jacob, 'Please come near, that I may feel you, my son, whether you are really my son Esau or not.'⁽²²⁾ So Jacob went near to Isaac his father, and he felt him and said, 'The voice is Jacob's voice, but the hands are the hands of Esau.'⁽²³⁾ And he did not recognize him, because his hands were hairy like his brother Esau's hands; so he blessed him.⁽²⁴⁾ Then he said, 'Are you really my son Esau?' He said, 'I am.'

⁽²⁵⁾ He said, 'Bring it near to me, and I will eat of my son's game, so that my soul may bless you.' So he brought it near to him, and he ate; and he brought him wine, and he drank.⁽²⁶⁾ Then his father Isaac said to him, 'Come near now and kiss me, my son.'⁽²⁷⁾ And he came near and kissed him; and he smelled the smell of his clothing, and blessed him and said: 'Surely, the smell of my son Is like the smell of a field Which the LORD has blessed.⁽²⁸⁾ Therefore may God give you Of the dew of heaven, Of the fatness of the earth, And plenty of grain and wine.

⁽²⁹⁾ Let peoples serve you, And nations bow down to you. Be master over your brethren, And let your mother's sons bow down to you. Cursed be everyone who curses you, And blessed be those who bless you!'

Romans Chapter 12

⁽¹⁾ I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.⁽²⁾ And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.⁽³⁾ For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.⁽⁴⁾ For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function,

⁽⁵⁾ so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another.⁽⁶⁾ Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith;⁽⁷⁾ or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches, in teaching;⁽⁸⁾ he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.

John Chapter 8

⁽¹²⁾ Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, 'I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.'⁽¹³⁾ The Pharisees therefore said to Him, 'You bear witness of Yourself; Your witness is not true.'⁽¹⁴⁾ Jesus answered and said to them, 'Even if I bear witness of Myself, My witness is true, for I know where I came from and where I am going; but you do not know where I come from and where I am going.⁽¹⁵⁾ You judge according to the flesh; I judge no one.

⁽¹⁶⁾ And yet if I do judge, My judgment is true; for I am not alone, but I am with the Father who sent Me.⁽¹⁷⁾ It is also written in your law that the testimony of two men is true.⁽¹⁸⁾ I am One who bears witness of Myself, and the Father who sent Me bears witness of Me.'⁽¹⁹⁾ Then they said to Him, 'Where is Your Father?' Jesus answered, 'You know neither Me nor My Father. If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also.'

⁽²⁰⁾ These words Jesus spoke in the treasury, as He taught in the temple; and no one laid hands on Him, for His hour had not yet come.

Lord God, heavenly King,
almighty God and Father,
we worship you, we give you thanks,
we praise you for your glory.

Lord Jesus Christ, only Son of the Father,

you take away the sin of the world:
have mercy on us;
you are seated at the right hand of the Father:
receive our prayer.

For you alone are the Holy One,
you alone are the Lord,
you alone are the Most High,
Jesus Christ,
with the Holy Spirit,

The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again.
He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,

The Lord's Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,

Thanksgiving
Almighty God, Father of all mercies, we your unworthy servants give you humble thanks for all your goodness and loving-kindness to us and to all whom you have made. We bless you for our creation, preservation, and all the blessings of this life; but above all for your immeasurable love in the redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ; for the means of grace, and for the hope of glory, and, we pray, give us such an awareness of your mercies, that with truly thankful hearts we may show forth your praise, not only with our lips, but in our lives, by giving up ourselves to your service, and by walking before you in holiness and righteousness all our days; through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom, with you and the Holy Spirit, be honor and glory throughout all ages.
