Epiphany
I will give you as a light to the nations, that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth. Isaiah 49:6b

Confession of Sin
Most merciful God,
I confess that I have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what I have done, and by what I have left undone. I have not loved you with my whole heart; I have not loved my neighbors as myself. I am truly sorry and I humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on me and forgive me; that I may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us all our sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life. Amen

Psalm 93

Psalm 96

Genesis Chapter 24

⁽⁵⁰⁾ Then Laban and Bethuel answered and said, 'The thing comes from the LORD; we cannot speak to you either bad or good. ⁽⁵¹⁾ Here is Rebekah before you; take her and go, and let her be your master's son's wife, as the LORD has spoken.' ⁽⁵²⁾ And it came to pass, when Abraham's servant heard their words, that he worshiped the LORD, bowing himself to the earth. ⁽⁵³⁾ Then the servant brought out jewelry of silver, jewelry of gold, and clothing, and gave them to Rebekah. He also gave precious things to her brother and to her mother.

⁽⁵⁴⁾ And he and the men who were with him ate and drank and stayed all night. Then they arose in the morning, and he said, 'Send me away to my master.' ⁽⁵⁵⁾ But her brother and her mother said, 'Let the young woman stay with us a few days, at least ten; after that she may go.' ⁽⁵⁶⁾ And he said to them, 'Do not hinder me, since the LORD has prospered my way; send me away so that I may go to my master.' ⁽⁵⁷⁾ So they said, 'We will call the young woman and ask her personally.'

⁽⁵⁸⁾ Then they called Rebekah and said to her, 'Will you go with this man?' And she said, 'I will go.' ⁽⁵⁹⁾ So they sent away Rebekah their sister and her nurse, and Abraham's servant and his men. ⁽⁶⁰⁾ And they blessed Rebekah and said to her: 'Our sister, may you become The mother of thousands of ten thousands; And may your descendants possess The gates of those who hate them.' ⁽⁶¹⁾ Then Rebekah and her maids arose, and they rode on the camels and followed the man. So the servant took Rebekah and departed.

⁽⁶²⁾ Now Isaac came from the way of Beer Lahai Roi, for he dwelt in the South. ⁽⁶³⁾ And Isaac went out to meditate in the field in the evening; and he lifted his eyes and looked, and there, the camels were coming. ⁽⁶⁴⁾ Then Rebekah lifted her eyes, and when she saw Isaac she dismounted from her camel; ⁽⁶⁵⁾ for she had said to the servant, 'Who is this man walking in the field to meet us?' The servant said, 'It is my master.' So she took a veil and covered herself.

⁽⁶⁶⁾ And the servant told Isaac all the things that he had done. ⁽⁶⁷⁾ Then Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah's tent; and he took Rebekah and she became his wife, and he loved her. So Isaac was comforted after his mother's death.

2 Timothy Chapter 2

⁽¹⁴⁾ Remind them of these things, charging them before the Lord not to strive about words to no profit, to the ruin of the hearers. ⁽¹⁵⁾ Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. ⁽¹⁶⁾ But shun profane and idle babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness. ⁽¹⁷⁾ And their message will spread like cancer. Hymenaeus and Philetus are of this sort,

⁽¹⁸⁾ who have strayed concerning the truth, saying that the resurrection is already past; and they overthrow the faith of some. ⁽¹⁹⁾ Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: 'The Lord knows those who are His,' and, 'Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.' ⁽²⁰⁾ But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor. ⁽²¹⁾ Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.

Mark Chapter 10

⁽¹⁷⁾ Now as He was going out on the road, one came running, knelt before Him, and asked Him, 'Good Teacher, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?' ⁽¹⁸⁾ So Jesus said to him, 'Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. ⁽¹⁹⁾ You know the commandments: 'Do not commit adultery,' 'Do not murder,' 'Do not steal,' 'Do not bear false witness,' 'Do not defraud,' 'Honor your father and your mother.' ' ⁽²⁰⁾ And he answered and said to Him, 'Teacher, all these things I have kept from my youth.'

⁽²¹⁾ Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, 'One thing you lack: Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross, and follow Me.' ⁽²²⁾ But he was sad at this word, and went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.

The Song of Zechariah Luke 1: 68 to 79
Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel;
he has come to his people and set them free.
He has raised up for us a mighty savior,
born of the house of his servant David.
Through his holy prophets he promised of old,
that he would save us from our enemies,
from the hands of all who hate us.
He promised to show mercy to our fathers
and to remember his holy covenant.
This was the oath he swore to our father Abraham,
to set us free from the hands of our enemies,
Free to worship him without fear,
holy and righteous in his sight
all the days of our life.
You, my child, shall be called the prophet of the Most High,
for you will go before the Lord to prepare his way,
To give his people knowledge of salvation
by the forgiveness of their sins.
In the tender compassion of our God

The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only son, our Lord.
  He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.
  He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
  He descended to the dead.
  On the third day he rose again.

Seasonal Collect:  Fifth Sunday after the Epiphany
Set us free, O God, from the bondage of our sins, and give us the liberty of that abundant life which you have made known to us in your Son our Savior Jesus Christ; who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
