Confession of Sin
Most merciful God,
I confess that I have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what I have done, and by what I have left undone. I have not loved you with my whole heart; I have not loved my neighbors as myself. I am truly sorry and I humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on me and forgive me; that I may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us all our sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life. Amen

Psalm 24

⁽¹⁾ The earth is the LORD's, and all its fullness, The world and those who dwell therein. ⁽²⁾ For He has founded it upon the seas, And established it upon the waters. ⁽³⁾ Who may ascend into the hill of the LORD? Or who may stand in His holy place? ⁽⁴⁾ He who has clean hands and a pure heart, Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, Nor sworn deceitfully.

Psalm 29

1 Kings Chapter 19

⁽⁸⁾ So he arose, and ate and drank; and he went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights as far as Horeb, the mountain of God. ⁽⁹⁾ And there he went into a cave, and spent the night in that place; and behold, the word of the LORD came to him, and He said to him, 'What are you doing here, Elijah?' ⁽¹⁰⁾ So he said, 'I have been very zealous for the LORD God of hosts; for the children of Israel have forsaken Your covenant, torn down Your altars, and killed Your prophets with the sword. I alone am left; and they seek to take my life.' ⁽¹¹⁾ Then He said, 'Go out, and stand on the mountain before the LORD.' And behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake;

⁽¹²⁾ and after the earthquake a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice. ⁽¹³⁾ So it was, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood in the entrance of the cave. And Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel Meholah you shall anoint as prophet in your place. ⁽¹⁷⁾ It shall be that whoever escapes the sword of Hazael, Jehu will kill; and whoever escapes the sword of Jehu, Elisha will kill. ⁽¹⁸⁾ Yet I have reserved seven thousand in Israel, all whose knees have not bowed to Baal, and every mouth that has not kissed him.' ⁽¹⁹⁾ So he departed from there, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen before him, and he was with the twelfth. Then Elijah passed by him and threw his mantle on him.

⁽²⁰⁾ And he left the oxen and ran after Elijah, and said, 'Please let me kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow you.' And he said to him, 'Go back again, for what have I done to you?' ⁽²¹⁾ So Elisha turned back from him, and took a yoke of oxen and slaughtered them and boiled their flesh, using the oxen's equipment, and gave it to the people, and they ate. Then he arose and followed Elijah, and became his servant.

Acts Chapter 5

⁽³⁴⁾ Then one in the council stood up, a Pharisee named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law held in respect by all the people, and commanded them to put the apostles outside for a little while. ⁽³⁵⁾ And he said to them: 'Men of Israel, take heed to yourselves what you intend to do regarding these men. ⁽³⁶⁾ For some time ago Theudas rose up, claiming to be somebody. A number of men, about four hundred, joined him. He was slain, and all who obeyed him were scattered and came to nothing. ⁽³⁷⁾ After this man, Judas of Galilee rose up in the days of the census, and drew away many people after him. He also perished, and all who obeyed him were dispersed.

⁽³⁸⁾ And now I say to you, keep away from these men and let them alone; for if this plan or this work is of men, it will come to nothing; ⁽³⁹⁾ but if it is of God, you cannot overthrow it -- lest you even be found to fight against God.' ⁽⁴⁰⁾ And they agreed with him, and when they had called for the apostles and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go. ⁽⁴¹⁾ So they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His name.

⁽⁴²⁾ And daily in the temple, and in every house, they did not cease teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ.

John Chapter 11

⁽⁴⁵⁾ Then many of the Jews who had come to Mary, and had seen the things Jesus did, believed in Him. ⁽⁴⁶⁾ But some of them went away to the Pharisees and told them the things Jesus did. ⁽⁴⁷⁾ Then the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered a council and said, 'What shall we do? For this Man works many signs. ⁽⁴⁸⁾ If we let Him alone like this, everyone will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and nation.'

⁽⁴⁹⁾ And one of them, Caiaphas, being high priest that year, said to them, 'You know nothing at all, ⁽⁵⁰⁾ nor do you consider that it is expedient for us that one man should die for the people, and not that the whole nation should perish.' ⁽⁵¹⁾ Now this he did not say on his own authority; but being high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus would die for the nation, ⁽⁵²⁾ and not for that nation only, but also that He would gather together in one the children of God who were scattered abroad.

⁽⁵³⁾ Then, from that day on, they plotted to put Him to death. ⁽⁵⁴⁾ Therefore Jesus no longer walked openly among the Jews, but went from there into the country near the wilderness, to a city called Ephraim, and there remained with His disciples. ⁽⁵⁵⁾ And the Passover of the Jews was near, and many went from the country up to Jerusalem before the Passover, to purify themselves. ⁽⁵⁶⁾ Then they sought Jesus, and spoke among themselves as they stood in the temple, 'What do you think -- that He will not come to the feast?'

⁽⁵⁷⁾ Now both the chief priests and the Pharisees had given a command, that if anyone knew where He was, he should report it, that they might seize Him.

The Song of Zechariah Luke 1: 68 to 79
Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel;
he has come to his people and set them free.
He has raised up for us a mighty savior,
born of the house of his servant David.
Through his holy prophets he promised of old,
that he would save us from our enemies,
from the hands of all who hate us.
He promised to show mercy to our fathers
and to remember his holy covenant.
This was the oath he swore to our father Abraham,
to set us free from the hands of our enemies,
Free to worship him without fear,
holy and righteous in his sight
all the days of our life.
You, my child, shall be called the prophet of the Most High,
for you will go before the Lord to prepare his way,
To give his people knowledge of salvation
by the forgiveness of their sins.

The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only son, our Lord.
  He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.
  He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
  He descended to the dead.
  On the third day he rose again.
