Confession of Sin
Most merciful God,
I confess that I have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what I have done, and by what I have left undone. I have not loved you with my whole heart; I have not loved my neighbors as myself. I am truly sorry and I humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on me and forgive me; that I may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us all our sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life. Amen

Psalm 89

Habakkuk Chapter 2

⁽⁹⁾ Woe to him who covets evil gain for his house, That he may set his nest on high, That he may be delivered from the power of disaster! ⁽¹⁰⁾ You give shameful counsel to your house, Cutting off many peoples, And sin against your soul. ⁽¹¹⁾ For the stone will cry out from the wall, And the beam from the timbers will answer it. ⁽¹²⁾ Woe to him who builds a town with bloodshed, Who establishes a city by iniquity!

To silent stone, 'Arise! It shall teach!' Behold, it is overlaid with gold and silver, Yet in it there is no breath at all. ⁽²⁰⁾ But the LORD is in His holy temple. James Chapter 2

⁽¹⁴⁾ What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? ⁽¹⁵⁾ If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, ⁽¹⁶⁾ and one of you says to them, 'Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,' but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? ⁽¹⁷⁾ Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

⁽¹⁸⁾ But someone will say, 'You have faith, and I have works.' Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. ⁽¹⁹⁾ You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe -- and tremble! ⁽²⁰⁾ But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead? ⁽²¹⁾ Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar?

⁽²²⁾ Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? ⁽²³⁾ And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, 'Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.' And he was called the friend of God. ⁽²⁴⁾ You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only. ⁽²⁵⁾ Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out another way?

⁽²⁶⁾ For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

Luke Chapter 16

⁽¹⁹⁾ There was a certain rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and fared sumptuously every day. ⁽²⁰⁾ But there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, full of sores, who was laid at his gate, ⁽²¹⁾ desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table. Moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. ⁽²²⁾ So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham's bosom. The rich man also died and was buried.

⁽²³⁾ And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. ⁽²⁴⁾ Then he cried and said, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.' ⁽²⁵⁾ But Abraham said, 'Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted and you are tormented. ⁽²⁶⁾ And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us.'

⁽²⁷⁾ Then he said, 'I beg you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father's house, ⁽²⁸⁾ for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place of torment.' ⁽²⁹⁾ Abraham said to him, 'They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.' ⁽³⁰⁾ And he said, 'No, father Abraham; but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.'

⁽³¹⁾ But he said to him, 'If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead.' '

The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only son, our Lord.
  He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.
  He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
  He descended to the dead.
  On the third day he rose again.
  He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
  He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
