Confession of Sin
Most merciful God,
I confess that I have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what I have done, and by what I have left undone. I have not loved you with my whole heart; I have not loved my neighbors as myself. I am truly sorry and I humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on me and forgive me; that I may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us all our sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life. Amen

Jonah Chapter 1

⁽¹⁾ Now the word of the LORD came to Jonah the son of Amittai, saying, ⁽²⁾ Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry out against it; for their wickedness has come up before Me.' ⁽³⁾ But Jonah arose to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the LORD. He went down to Joppa, and found a ship going to Tarshish; so he paid the fare, and went down into it, to go with them to Tarshish from the presence of the LORD. ⁽⁴⁾ But the LORD sent out a great wind on the sea, and there was a mighty tempest on the sea, so that the ship was about to be broken up.

⁽⁵⁾ Then the mariners were afraid; and every man cried out to his god, and threw the cargo that was in the ship into the sea, to lighten the load. But Jonah had gone down into the lowest parts of the ship, had lain down, and was fast asleep. ⁽⁶⁾ So the captain came to him, and said to him, 'What do you mean, sleeper? Arise, call on your God; perhaps your God will consider us, so that we may not perish.' ⁽⁷⁾ And they said to one another, 'Come, let us cast lots, that we may know for whose cause this trouble has come upon us.' So they cast lots, and the lot fell on Jonah. ⁽⁸⁾ Then they said to him, 'Please tell us! For whose cause is this trouble upon us? What is your occupation? And where do you come from? What is your country? And of what people are you?'

⁽⁹⁾ So he said to them, 'I am a Hebrew; and I fear the LORD, the God of heaven, who made the sea and the dry land.' ⁽¹⁰⁾ Then the men were exceedingly afraid, and said to him, 'Why have you done this?' For the men knew that he fled from the presence of the LORD, because he had told them. ⁽¹¹⁾ Then they said to him, 'What shall we do to you that the sea may be calm for us?' -- for the sea was growing more tempestuous. ⁽¹²⁾ And he said to them, 'Pick me up and throw me into the sea; then the sea will become calm for you. For I know that this great tempest is because of me.'

⁽¹³⁾ Nevertheless the men rowed hard to return to land, but they could not, for the sea continued to grow more tempestuous against them. ⁽¹⁴⁾ Therefore they cried out to the LORD and said, 'We pray, O LORD, please do not let us perish for this man's life, and do not charge us with innocent blood; for You, O LORD, have done as it pleased You.' ⁽¹⁵⁾ So they picked up Jonah and threw him into the sea, and the sea ceased from its raging. ⁽¹⁶⁾ Then the men feared the LORD exceedingly, and offered a sacrifice to the LORD and took vows.

⁽¹⁷⁾ Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.

Acts Chapter 26

⁽²⁴⁾ Now as he thus made his defense, Festus said with a loud voice, 'Paul, you are beside yourself! Much learning is driving you mad!' ⁽²⁵⁾ But he said, 'I am not mad, most noble Festus, but speak the words of truth and reason. ⁽²⁶⁾ For the king, before whom I also speak freely, knows these things; for I am convinced that none of these things escapes his attention, since this thing was not done in a corner. ⁽²⁷⁾ King Agrippa, do you believe the prophets? I know that you do believe.'

⁽²⁸⁾ Then Agrippa said to Paul, 'You almost persuade me to become a Christian.' ⁽²⁹⁾ And Paul said, 'I would to God that not only you, but also all who hear me today, might become both almost and altogether such as I am, except for these chains.' ⁽³⁰⁾ When he had said these things, the king stood up, as well as the governor and Bernice and those who sat with them; ⁽³¹⁾ and when they had gone aside, they talked among themselves, saying, 'This man is doing nothing deserving of death or chains.'

⁽³²⁾ Then Agrippa said to Festus, 'This man might have been set free if he had not appealed to Caesar.' ⁽¹⁾ And when it was decided that we should sail to Italy, they delivered Paul and some other prisoners to one named Julius, a centurion of the Augustan Regiment. ⁽²⁾ So, entering a ship of Adramyttium, we put to sea, meaning to sail along the coasts of Asia. Aristarchus, a Macedonian of Thessalonica, was with us. ⁽³⁾ And the next day we landed at Sidon. And Julius treated Paul kindly and gave him liberty to go to his friends and receive care. ⁽⁴⁾ When we had put to sea from there, we sailed under the shelter of Cyprus, because the winds were contrary.

⁽⁵⁾ And when we had sailed over the sea which is off Cilicia and Pamphylia, we came to Myra, a city of Lycia. ⁽⁶⁾ There the centurion found an Alexandrian ship sailing to Italy, and he put us on board. ⁽⁷⁾ When we had sailed slowly many days, and arrived with difficulty off Cnidus, the wind not permitting us to proceed, we sailed under the shelter of Crete off Salmone. ⁽⁸⁾ Passing it with difficulty, we came to a place called Fair Havens, near the city of Lasea.

Luke Chapter 8

⁽⁴⁰⁾ So it was, when Jesus returned, that the multitude welcomed Him, for they were all waiting for Him. ⁽⁴¹⁾ And behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue. And he fell down at Jesus' feet and begged Him to come to his house, ⁽⁴²⁾ for he had an only daughter about twelve years of age, and she was dying. But as He went, the multitudes thronged Him. ⁽⁴³⁾ Now a woman, having a flow of blood for twelve years, who had spent all her livelihood on physicians and could not be healed by any,

⁽⁴⁴⁾ came from behind and touched the border of His garment. And immediately her flow of blood stopped. ⁽⁴⁵⁾ And Jesus said, 'Who touched Me?' When all denied it, Peter and those with him said, 'Master, the multitudes throng and press You, and You say, 'Who touched Me?' ' ⁽⁴⁶⁾ But Jesus said, 'Somebody touched Me, for I perceived power going out from Me.' ⁽⁴⁷⁾ Now when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling; and falling down before Him, she declared to Him in the presence of all the people the reason she had touched Him and how she was healed immediately.

⁽⁴⁸⁾ And He said to her, 'Daughter, be of good cheer; your faith has made you well. Go in peace.' ⁽⁴⁹⁾ While He was still speaking, someone came from the ruler of the synagogue's house, saying to him, 'Your daughter is dead. Do not trouble the Teacher.' ⁽⁵⁰⁾ But when Jesus heard it, He answered him, saying, 'Do not be afraid; only believe, and she will be made well.' ⁽⁵¹⁾ When He came into the house, He permitted no one to go in except Peter, James, and John, and the father and mother of the girl.

⁽⁵²⁾ Now all wept and mourned for her; but He said, 'Do not weep; she is not dead, but sleeping.' ⁽⁵³⁾ And they ridiculed Him, knowing that she was dead. ⁽⁵⁴⁾ But He put them all outside, took her by the hand and called, saying, 'Little girl, arise.' ⁽⁵⁵⁾ Then her spirit returned, and she arose immediately. And He commanded that she be given something to eat.

Splendor and honor and kingly power
are yours by right, O Lord our God,
For you created everything that is,
and by your will they were created
  and have their being;

From every family, language, people, and nation,

The Song of Zechariah Luke 1: 68 to 79

Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel;
he has come to his people and set them free.
He has raised up for us a mighty savior,
born of the house of his servant David.

Through his holy prophets he promised of old,
that he would save us from our enemies,
from the hands of all who hate us.
He promised to show mercy to our fathers
and to remember his holy covenant.

This was the oath he swore to our father Abraham,
to set us free from the hands of our enemies,

The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only son, our Lord.
  He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.
  He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
  He descended to the dead.
  On the third day he rose again.
