Confession of Sin
Most merciful God,
I confess that I have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what I have done, and by what I have left undone. I have not loved you with my whole heart; I have not loved my neighbors as myself. I am truly sorry and I humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on me and forgive me; that I may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us all our sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life. Amen

Venite

ⓘ 'Venite' is Latin for 'O Come,' the opening word of Psalm 95: Venite exultemus Domino ('O Come, let us sing to the LORD').

Psalm 95:1 to 7
Come, let us sing to the Lord;
   let us shout for joy to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving
   and raise a loud shout to him with psalms.

For the Lord is a great God,
   and a great King above all gods.
In his hand are the caverns of the earth,
   and the heights of the hills are his also.
The sea is his, for he made it,
   and his hands have molded the dry land.

Come, let us bow down, and bend the knee,
   and kneel before the Lord our Maker.
For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture and the sheep of his hand.

The Lessons

Psalm 118

⁽¹⁾ Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.⁽²⁾ Let Israel now say, 'His mercy endures forever.'⁽³⁾ Let the house of Aaron now say, 'His mercy endures forever.'⁽⁴⁾ Let those who fear the LORD now say, 'His mercy endures forever.'

⁽⁵⁾ I called on the LORD in distress; The LORD answered me and set me in a broad place.⁽⁶⁾ The LORD is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?⁽⁷⁾ The LORD is for me among those who help me; Therefore I shall see my desire on those who hate me.⁽⁸⁾ It is better to trust in the LORD Than to put confidence in man.

Proverbs Chapter 1

⁽²⁰⁾ Wisdom calls aloud outside; She raises her voice in the open squares.⁽²¹⁾ She cries out in the chief concourses, At the openings of the gates in the city She speaks her words:⁽²²⁾ How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? For scorners delight in their scorning, And fools hate knowledge.⁽²³⁾ Turn at my rebuke; Surely I will pour out my spirit on you; I will make my words known to you.

⁽²⁴⁾ Because I have called and you refused, I have stretched out my hand and no one regarded,⁽²⁵⁾ Because you disdained all my counsel, And would have none of my rebuke,⁽²⁶⁾ I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your terror comes,⁽²⁷⁾ When your terror comes like a storm, And your destruction comes like a whirlwind, When distress and anguish come upon you.

⁽²⁸⁾ Then they will call on me, but I will not answer; They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me.⁽²⁹⁾ Because they hated knowledge And did not choose the fear of the LORD,⁽³⁰⁾ They would have none of my counsel And despised my every rebuke.⁽³¹⁾ Therefore they shall eat the fruit of their own way, And be filled to the full with their own fancies.

2 Corinthians Chapter 5

⁽¹¹⁾ Knowing, therefore, the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are well known to God, and I also trust are well known in your consciences.⁽¹²⁾ For we do not commend ourselves again to you, but give you opportunity to boast on our behalf, that you may have an answer for those who boast in appearance and not in heart.⁽¹³⁾ For if we are beside ourselves, it is for God; or if we are of sound mind, it is for you.⁽¹⁴⁾ For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died;

⁽¹⁵⁾ and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.⁽¹⁶⁾ Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. The Song of Zechariah Luke 1: 68 to 79
Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel;
he has come to his people and set them free.
He has raised up for us a mighty savior,
born of the house of his servant David.
Through his holy prophets he promised of old,
that he would save us from our enemies,
from the hands of all who hate us.
He promised to show mercy to our fathers
and to remember his holy covenant.
This was the oath he swore to our father Abraham,
to set us free from the hands of our enemies,
Free to worship him without fear,
holy and righteous in his sight
all the days of our life.
You, my child, shall be called the prophet of the Most High,
for you will go before the Lord to prepare his way,
To give his people knowledge of salvation
by the forgiveness of their sins.
In the tender compassion of our God
the dawn from on high shall break upon us,
To shine on those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of death,
and to guide our feet into the way of peace.

You are God
You are God: we praise you;
You are the Lord; we acclaim you;
You are the eternal Father:
All creation worships you.
To you all angels, all the powers of heaven,

The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again.
He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,

The Lord's Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy Name,
thy kingdom come, thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.

Seasonal Collect: Seventh Sunday after the Epiphany
O Lord, you have taught us that without love whatever we do is worth nothing: Send your Holy Spirit and pour into our hearts your greatest gift, which is love, the true bond of peace and of all virtue, without which whoever lives is accounted dead before you. Grant this for the sake of your only Son Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Collect of the Day: O God, you make us glad with the weekly remembrance of the glorious resurrection of your Son our Lord: Give us this day such blessing through our worship of you, that the week to come may be spent in your favor; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

A Prayer for Mission: Almighty and everlasting God, by whose Spirit the whole body of your faithful people is governed and sanctified: Receive our supplications and prayers which we offer before you for all members of your holy Church, that in their vocation and ministry they may truly and devoutly serve you; through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Thanksgiving
Almighty God, Father of all mercies, we your unworthy servants give you humble thanks for all your goodness and loving-kindness to us and to all whom you have made. We bless you for our creation, preservation, and all the blessings of this life; but above all for your immeasurable love in the redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ; for the means of grace, and for the hope of glory, and, we pray, give us such an awareness of your mercies, that with truly thankful hearts we may show forth your praise, not only with our lips, but in our lives, by giving up ourselves to your service, and by walking before you in holiness and righteousness all our days; through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom, with you and the Holy Spirit, be honor and glory throughout all ages.
