Confession of Sin
Most merciful God,
I confess that I have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what I have done, and by what I have left undone. I have not loved you with my whole heart; I have not loved my neighbors as myself. I am truly sorry and I humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on me and forgive me; that I may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us all our sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life. Amen

Venite

Psalm 95:1 to 7
Come, let us sing to the Lord;
   let us shout for joy to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving
   and raise a loud shout to him with psalms.

For the Lord is a great God,
   and a great King above all gods.
In his hand are the caverns of the earth,
   and the heights of the hills are his also.
The sea is his, for he made it,
   and his hands have molded the dry land.

Come, let us bow down, and bend the knee,
   and kneel before the Lord our Maker.
For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture and the sheep of his hand.

The Lessons

Psalm 140

⁽¹⁾ Deliver me, O LORD, from evil men; Preserve me from violent men,⁽²⁾ Who plan evil things in their hearts; They continually gather together for war.⁽³⁾ They sharpen their tongues like a serpent; The poison of asps is under their lips. Selah⁽⁴⁾ Keep me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked; Preserve me from violent men, Who have purposed to make my steps stumble.

⁽⁵⁾ The proud have hidden a snare for me, and cords; They have spread a net by the wayside; They have set traps for me. Selah⁽⁶⁾ I said to the LORD: 'You are my God; Hear the voice of my supplications, O LORD.⁽⁷⁾ O GOD the Lord, the strength of my salvation, You have covered my head in the day of battle.⁽⁸⁾ Do not grant, O LORD, the desires of the wicked; Do not further his wicked scheme, Lest they be exalted. Psalm 142

⁽¹⁾ I cry out to the LORD with my voice; With my voice to the LORD I make my supplication.⁽²⁾ I pour out my complaint before Him; I declare before Him my trouble.⁽³⁾ When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, Then You knew my path. In the way in which I walk They have secretly set a snare for me.⁽⁴⁾ Look on my right hand and see, For there is no one who acknowledges me; Refuge has failed me; No one cares for my soul.

⁽⁵⁾ I cried out to You, O LORD: I said, 'You are my refuge, My portion in the land of the living.⁽⁶⁾ Attend to my cry, For I am brought very low; Deliver me from my persecutors, For they are stronger than I.⁽⁷⁾ Bring my soul out of prison, That I may praise Your name; The righteous shall surround me, For You shall deal bountifully with me.'

2 Kings Chapter 23

⁽³⁶⁾ Jehoiakim was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Zebudah the daughter of Pedaiah of Rumah.⁽³⁷⁾ And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his fathers had done.⁽¹⁾ In his days Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up, and Jehoiakim became his vassal for three years. Then he turned and rebelled against him.⁽²⁾ And the LORD sent against him raiding bands of Chaldeans, bands of Syrians, bands of Moabites, and bands of the people of Ammon; He sent them against Judah to destroy it, according to the word of the LORD which He had spoken by His servants the prophets.⁽³⁾ Surely at the commandment of the LORD this came upon Judah, to remove them from His sight because of the sins of Manasseh, according to all that he had done,⁽⁴⁾ and also because of the innocent blood that he had shed; for he had filled Jerusalem with innocent blood, which the LORD would not pardon.

⁽⁵⁾ Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?⁽⁶⁾ So Jehoiakim rested with his fathers. Then Jehoiachin his son reigned in his place.⁽⁷⁾ And the king of Egypt did not come out of his land anymore, for the king of Babylon had taken all that belonged to the king of Egypt from the Brook of Egypt to the River Euphrates.⁽⁸⁾ Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem three months. His mother's name was Nehushta the daughter of Elnathan of Jerusalem.

⁽⁹⁾ And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father had done.⁽¹⁰⁾ At that time the servants of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up against Jerusalem, and the city was besieged.⁽¹¹⁾ And Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came against the city, as his servants were besieging it.⁽¹²⁾ Then Jehoiachin king of Judah, his mother, his servants, his princes, and his officers went out to the king of Babylon; and the king of Babylon, in the eighth year of his reign, took him prisoner.

⁽¹³⁾ And he carried out from there all the treasures of the house of the LORD and the treasures of the king's house, and he cut in pieces all the articles of gold which Solomon king of Israel had made in the temple of the LORD, as the LORD had said.⁽¹⁴⁾ Also he carried into captivity all Jerusalem: all the captains and all the mighty men of valor, ten thousand captives, and all the craftsmen and smiths. None remained except the poorest people of the land.⁽¹⁵⁾ And he carried Jehoiachin captive to Babylon. The king's mother, the king's wives, his officers, and the mighty of the land he carried into captivity from Jerusalem to Babylon.⁽¹⁶⁾ All the valiant men, seven thousand, and craftsmen and smiths, one thousand, all who were strong and fit for war, these the king of Babylon brought captive to Babylon.

⁽¹⁷⁾ Then the king of Babylon made Mattaniah, Jehoiachin's uncle, king in his place, and changed his name to Zedekiah.

1 Corinthians Chapter 12

⁽¹²⁾ For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ.⁽¹³⁾ For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body -- whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free -- and have all been made to drink into one Spirit.⁽¹⁴⁾ For in fact the body is not one member but many.⁽¹⁵⁾ If the foot should say, 'Because I am not a hand, I am not of the body,' is it therefore not of the body?

⁽¹⁶⁾ And if the ear should say, 'Because I am not an eye, I am not of the body,' is it therefore not of the body?⁽¹⁷⁾ If the whole body were an eye, where would be the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where would be the smelling?⁽¹⁸⁾ But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased.⁽¹⁹⁾ And if they were all one member, where would the body be?

⁽²⁰⁾ But now indeed there are many members, yet one body.⁽²¹⁾ And the eye cannot say to the hand, 'I have no need of you'; nor again the head to the feet, 'I have no need of you.'⁽²²⁾ No, much rather, those members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary.⁽²³⁾ And those members of the body which we think to be less honorable, on these we bestow greater honor; and our unpresentable parts have greater modesty,

⁽²⁴⁾ but our presentable parts have no need. But God composed the body, having given greater honor to that part which lacks it,⁽²⁵⁾ that there should be no schism in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another.⁽²⁶⁾ And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; or if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.

Matthew Chapter 9

⁽²⁷⁾ When Jesus departed from there, two blind men followed Him, crying out and saying, 'Son of David, have mercy on us!'⁽²⁸⁾ And when He had come into the house, the blind men came to Him. And Jesus said to them, 'Do you believe that I am able to do this?' They said to Him, 'Yes, Lord.'⁽²⁹⁾ Then He touched their eyes, saying, 'According to your faith let it be to you.'⁽³⁰⁾ And their eyes were opened. And Jesus sternly warned them, saying, 'See that no one knows it.'

⁽³¹⁾ But when they had departed, they spread the news about Him in all that country.⁽³²⁾ As they went out, behold, they brought to Him a man, mute and demon-possessed.⁽³³⁾ And when the demon was cast out, the mute spoke. And the multitudes marveled, saying, 'It was never seen like this in Israel!'⁽³⁴⁾ But the Pharisees said, 'He casts out demons by the ruler of the demons.'

The Second Song of Isaiah Isaiah 55:6 to 11

Seek the Lord while he wills to be found;

The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again.
He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,

The Lord's Prayer

Almighty God, Father of all mercies, we your unworthy servants give you humble thanks for all your goodness and loving-kindness to us and to all whom you have made. We bless you for our creation, preservation, and all the blessings of this life; but above all for your immeasurable love in the redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ; for the means of grace, and for the hope of glory, and, we pray, give us such an awareness of your mercies, that with truly thankful hearts we may show forth your praise, not only with our lips, but in our lives, by giving up ourselves to your service, and by walking before you in holiness and righteousness all our days; through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom, with you and the Holy Spirit, be honor and glory throughout all ages.
