Ordinary Time
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer. Psalm 19:14

Confession of Sin
Most merciful God,
I confess that I have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what I have done, and by what I have left undone. I have not loved you with my whole heart; I have not loved my neighbors as myself. I am truly sorry and I humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on me and forgive me; that I may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us all our sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life. Amen

Psalm 87

Selah ⁽⁴⁾ I will make mention of Rahab and Babylon to those who know Me; Behold, O Philistia and Tyre, with Ethiopia: 'This one was born there.' '

Psalm 90

2 Samuel Chapter 12

⁽¹⁵⁾ Then Nathan departed to his house. And the LORD struck the child that Uriah's wife bore to David, and it became ill. ⁽¹⁶⁾ David therefore pleaded with God for the child, and David fasted and went in and lay all night on the ground. ⁽¹⁷⁾ So the elders of his house arose and went to him, to raise him up from the ground. But he would not, nor did he eat food with them. ⁽¹⁸⁾ Then on the seventh day it came to pass that the child died. And the servants of David were afraid to tell him that the child was dead. For they said, 'Indeed, while the child was alive, we spoke to him, and he would not heed our voice. How can we tell him that the child is dead? He may do some harm!'

⁽¹⁹⁾ When David saw that his servants were whispering, David perceived that the child was dead. Therefore David said to his servants, 'Is the child dead?' And they said, 'He is dead.' ⁽²⁰⁾ So David arose from the ground, washed and anointed himself, and changed his clothes; and he went into the house of the LORD and worshiped. Then he went to his own house; and when he requested, they set food before him, and he ate. ⁽²¹⁾ Then his servants said to him, 'What is this that you have done? You fasted and wept for the child while he was alive, but when the child died, you arose and ate food.' ⁽²²⁾ And he said, 'While the child was alive, I fasted and wept; for I said, 'Who can tell whether the LORD will be gracious to me, that the child may live?'

⁽²³⁾ But now he is dead; why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.' ⁽²⁴⁾ Then David comforted Bathsheba his wife, and went in to her and lay with her. So she bore a son, and he called his name Solomon. Now the LORD loved him, ⁽²⁵⁾ and He sent word by the hand of Nathan the prophet: So he called his name Jedidiah, because of the LORD. ⁽²⁶⁾ Now Joab fought against Rabbah of the people of Ammon, and took the royal city.

⁽²⁷⁾ And Joab sent messengers to David, and said, 'I have fought against Rabbah, and I have taken the city's water supply. ⁽²⁸⁾ Now therefore, gather the rest of the people together and encamp against the city and take it, lest I take the city and it be called after my name.' ⁽²⁹⁾ So David gathered all the people together and went to Rabbah, fought against it, and took it. ⁽³⁰⁾ Then he took their king's crown from his head. Its weight was a talent of gold, with precious stones. And it was set on David's head. Also he brought out the spoil of the city in great abundance.

⁽³¹⁾ And he brought out the people who were in it, and put them to work with saws and iron picks and iron axes, and made them cross over to the brick works. So he did to all the cities of the people of Ammon. Then David and all the people returned to Jerusalem.

Acts Chapter 20

⁽¹⁾ After the uproar had ceased, Paul called the disciples to himself, embraced them, and departed to go to Macedonia. ⁽²⁾ Now when he had gone over that region and encouraged them with many words, he came to Greece ⁽³⁾ and stayed three months. And when the Jews plotted against him as he was about to sail to Syria, he decided to return through Macedonia. ⁽⁴⁾ And Sopater of Berea accompanied him to Asia -- also Aristarchus and Secundus of the Thessalonians, and Gaius of Derbe, and Timothy, and Tychicus and Trophimus of Asia.

⁽⁵⁾ These men, going ahead, waited for us at Troas. ⁽⁶⁾ But we sailed away from Philippi after the Days of Unleavened Bread, and in five days joined them at Troas, where we stayed seven days. ⁽⁷⁾ Now on the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul, ready to depart the next day, spoke to them and continued his message until midnight. ⁽⁸⁾ There were many lamps in the upper room where they were gathered together.

⁽⁹⁾ And in a window sat a certain young man named Eutychus, who was sinking into a deep sleep. He was overcome by sleep; and as Paul continued speaking, he fell down from the third story and was taken up dead. ⁽¹⁰⁾ But Paul went down, fell on him, and embracing him said, 'Do not trouble yourselves, for his life is in him.' ⁽¹¹⁾ Now when he had come up, had broken bread and eaten, and talked a long while, even till daybreak, he departed. ⁽¹²⁾ And they brought the young man in alive, and they were not a little comforted.

⁽¹³⁾ Then we went ahead to the ship and sailed to Assos, there intending to take Paul on board; for so he had given orders, intending himself to go on foot. ⁽¹⁴⁾ And when he met us at Assos, we took him on board and came to Mitylene. ⁽¹⁵⁾ We sailed from there, and the next day came opposite Chios. The following day we arrived at Samos and stayed at Trogyllium. The next day we came to Miletus. ⁽¹⁶⁾ For Paul had decided to sail past Ephesus, so that he would not have to spend time in Asia; for he was hurrying to be at Jerusalem, if possible, on the Day of Pentecost.

Mark Chapter 9

⁽³⁰⁾ Then they departed from there and passed through Galilee, and He did not want anyone to know it. ⁽³¹⁾ For He taught His disciples and said to them, 'The Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of men, and they will kill Him. And after He is killed, He will rise the third day.' ⁽³²⁾ But they did not understand this saying, and were afraid to ask Him. ⁽³³⁾ Then He came to Capernaum. And when He was in the house He asked them, 'What was it you disputed among yourselves on the road?'

⁽³⁴⁾ But they kept silent, for on the road they had disputed among themselves who would be the greatest. ⁽³⁵⁾ And He sat down, called the twelve, and said to them, 'If anyone desires to be first, he shall be last of all and servant of all.' ⁽³⁶⁾ Then He took a little child and set him in the midst of them. And when He had taken him in His arms, He said to them, ⁽³⁷⁾ Whoever receives one of these little children in My name receives Me; and whoever receives Me, receives not Me but Him who sent Me.'

⁽³⁸⁾ Now John answered Him, saying, 'Teacher, we saw someone who does not follow us casting out demons in Your name, and we forbade him because he does not follow us.' ⁽³⁹⁾ But Jesus said, 'Do not forbid him, for no one who works a miracle in My name can soon afterward speak evil of Me. ⁽⁴⁰⁾ For he who is not against us is on our side. ⁽⁴¹⁾ For whoever gives you a cup of water to drink in My name, because you belong to Christ, assuredly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward.
