Confession of Sin
Most merciful God,
I confess that I have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what I have done, and by what I have left undone. I have not loved you with my whole heart; I have not loved my neighbors as myself. I am truly sorry and I humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on me and forgive me; that I may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us all our sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life. Amen

Psalm 25

⁽¹⁾ To You, O LORD, I lift up my soul. ⁽²⁾ O my God, I trust in You; Let me not be ashamed; Let not my enemies triumph over me. ⁽³⁾ Indeed, let no one who waits on You be ashamed; Let those be ashamed who deal treacherously without cause. ⁽⁴⁾ Show me Your ways, O LORD; Teach me Your paths.

1 Samuel Chapter 18

⁽⁵⁾ So David went out wherever Saul sent him, and behaved wisely. And Saul set him over the men of war, and he was accepted in the sight of all the people and also in the sight of Saul's servants. ⁽⁶⁾ Now it had happened as they were coming home, when David was returning from the slaughter of the Philistine, that the women had come out of all the cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet King Saul, with tambourines, with joy, and with musical instruments. ⁽⁷⁾ So the women sang as they danced, and said: 'Saul has slain his thousands, And David his ten thousands.' ⁽⁸⁾ Then Saul was very angry, and the saying displeased him; and he said, 'They have ascribed to David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed only thousands. Now what more can he have but the kingdom?'

⁽⁹⁾ So Saul eyed David from that day forward. ⁽¹⁰⁾ And it happened on the next day that the distressing spirit from God came upon Saul, and he prophesied inside the house. So David played music with his hand, as at other times; but there was a spear in Saul's hand. ⁽¹¹⁾ And Saul cast the spear, for he said, 'I will pin David to the wall!' But David escaped his presence twice. ⁽¹²⁾ Now Saul was afraid of David, because the LORD was with him, but had departed from Saul.

⁽¹³⁾ Therefore Saul removed him from his presence, and made him his captain over a thousand; and he went out and came in before the people. ⁽¹⁴⁾ And David behaved wisely in all his ways, and the LORD was with him. ⁽¹⁵⁾ Therefore, when Saul saw that he behaved very wisely, he was afraid of him. ⁽¹⁶⁾ But all Israel and Judah loved David, because he went out and came in before them.

⁽²⁷⁾ therefore David arose and went, he and his men, and killed two hundred men of the Philistines. And David brought their foreskins, and they gave them in full count to the king, that he might become the king's son-in-law. Then Saul gave him Michal his daughter as a wife. ⁽²⁸⁾ Thus Saul saw and knew that the LORD was with David, and that Michal, Saul's daughter, loved him; ⁽²⁹⁾ and Saul was still more afraid of David. So Saul became David's enemy continually. ⁽³⁰⁾ Then the princes of the Philistines went out to war. And so it was, whenever they went out, that David behaved more wisely than all the servants of Saul, so that his name became highly esteemed.

Acts Chapter 11

⁽¹⁹⁾ Now those who were scattered after the persecution that arose over Stephen traveled as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to no one but the Jews only. ⁽²⁰⁾ But some of them were men from Cyprus and Cyrene, who, when they had come to Antioch, spoke to the Hellenists, preaching the Lord Jesus. ⁽²¹⁾ And the hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number believed and turned to the Lord. ⁽²²⁾ Then news of these things came to the ears of the church in Jerusalem, and they sent out Barnabas to go as far as Antioch.

⁽²³⁾ When he came and had seen the grace of God, he was glad, and encouraged them all that with purpose of heart they should continue with the Lord. ⁽²⁴⁾ For he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And a great many people were added to the Lord. ⁽²⁵⁾ Then Barnabas departed for Tarsus to seek Saul. ⁽²⁶⁾ And when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. So it was that for a whole year they assembled with the church and taught a great many people. And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.

⁽²⁷⁾ And in these days prophets came from Jerusalem to Antioch. ⁽²⁸⁾ Then one of them, named Agabus, stood up and showed by the Spirit that there was going to be a great famine throughout all the world, which also happened in the days of Claudius Caesar. ⁽²⁹⁾ Then the disciples, each according to his ability, determined to send relief to the brethren dwelling in Judea. ⁽³⁰⁾ This they also did, and sent it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.

Mark Chapter 1

⁽²⁹⁾ Now as soon as they had come out of the synagogue, they entered the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John. ⁽³⁰⁾ But Simon's wife's mother lay sick with a fever, and they told Him about her at once. ⁽³¹⁾ So He came and took her by the hand and lifted her up, and immediately the fever left her. And she served them. ⁽³²⁾ At evening, when the sun had set, they brought to Him all who were sick and those who were demon-possessed.

⁽³³⁾ And the whole city was gathered together at the door. ⁽³⁴⁾ Then He healed many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons; and He did not allow the demons to speak, because they knew Him. ⁽³⁵⁾ Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed. ⁽³⁶⁾ And Simon and those who were with Him searched for Him.

⁽³⁷⁾ When they found Him, they said to Him, 'Everyone is looking for You.' ⁽³⁸⁾ But He said to them, 'Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also, because for this purpose I have come forth.' ⁽³⁹⁾ And He was preaching in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and casting out demons. ⁽⁴⁰⁾ Now a leper came to Him, imploring Him, kneeling down to Him and saying to Him, 'If You are willing, You can make me clean.'

⁽⁴¹⁾ Then Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, 'I am willing; be cleansed.' ⁽⁴²⁾ As soon as He had spoken, immediately the leprosy left him, and he was cleansed. ⁽⁴³⁾ And He strictly warned him and sent him away at once, ⁽⁴⁴⁾ and said to him, 'See that you say nothing to anyone; but go your way, show yourself to the priest, and offer for your cleansing those things which Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.'

⁽⁴⁵⁾ However, he went out and began to proclaim it freely, and to spread the matter, so that Jesus could no longer openly enter the city, but was outside in deserted places; and they came to Him from every direction.

The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only son, our Lord.
